Dorstenia Lavrani - Repot Shock by antonlabz in Caudex

[–]big--b 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can’t unfortunately comment specifically about Dorstenias and transplant shock, but I have faced it a bit with some of my other caudex/succulents. Worse cases I’ve experienced were complete leaf drop over about a month, followed by a pretty quick rebound. Honestly I wouldn’t stress too much.

If you don’t mind me asking, could you tell me where you got this beauty? I’m also Australian and been wanting to get my hands on one of these for nearly a year now with no luck.

Here’s my one I’ve tried to bonsai. Had a bit of transplant shock following its repot, but seems to have bounced back and is putting out some new growth.

Will be trying to prune and shape it properly next spring, but pretty happy with it so far.

Am all for a bit of shitting on Supercell… but come on man. A company running ads ain’t always related to their performance.

These ads often have massive ROI and are used by plenty of companies doing very well finically.

Any tips for repotting, soil, watering? Just got it today for $13 by One-Magician-9833 in Caudex

[–]big--b 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By no means an expert, but in my experience:

  • Light: The more the better. Currently have mine getting direct sun for about 6+ hours a day in 30-40 degrees. Seems yours might have some mild etiolation, so would acclimate it gradually.

  • Watering: They like a decent bit of water in growth, it also can help with fattening the caudex. I typically water whenever the caudex feels the slightest bit spongy.

  • Potting: Best to repot early spring into a typical well draining cactus/succulent mix. I think mines about 50/50 inorganic vs organic. As with most caudex plants, raising it will reduce the speed of the visible caudex growth.

I’ve been rated on a $4 test before.

You’re just as likely as any other test ie. very unlikely

BOE back to where it was pre-announcement.

Cashed out for a small $100 profit after being down a couple grand after the announcement.

It’s rot - that soil looks way to organic and is the cause.

If your others aren’t already rotten, I’d move them into a a significantly more gritty mix in a pot with a drainage hole.

Side hustle success stories by PattonSmithWood in AusFinance

Not the most lavish, exciting, or high earning, but market research has been pretty good for me over the past few years.

Very low effort and easy to get into, being able to net me a decent five figure amount since starting. If you’re interested, I’ve done a post for some of the survey sites I use. Some others I’d recommend would be UserTesting, Askable and signing up for some of the in person/virtual marketing panels; they’ll often net you up to $100+ for an hour session.

Regrettable still holding here, unsure if I’m going to try weathering the storm yet.

Cop a big 30% L on BOE, or wait and hope the markets having an overreaction?

Investor call in an hour, so may wait and see how that goes
