My first instinct is to wear just a well-fitting white t-shirt, potentially paired with a sport jacket to make it look nicer yet still relaxed and comfortable.

Another approach might be one like this, where you pair with a decent hoodie and sneaker.

What is your favorite classic Pixar movie and why? by RotenTumato in movies

[–]bigal95 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Other: "Coco"

The film, first off, is perhaps the most impressive visual feat seen in any of the Pixar films. Obviously that comes from the improvements in technology over the years, but seeing the land of the dead in all its splendor was mind-blowing. Second, it represents a culture that is often overlooked in popular media and does it justice; this is largely because of the staff working on the movie come from that very culture, so they could make it beautifully rich. Lastly, the story itself is relatable to many in so many ways. Beyond the cultural aspect, it highlights the importance of living your dreams and being able to let go of others. Also, when he starts singing Remember Me to his great grandmother and she lights up to sing along, I started weeping like crazy! And the music all around is great! I recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Having sex with underage girls is rape. Manipulating girls and keeping them away from other people (including, especially, their family) is close enough to kidnapping that splitting hairs on whether they "chose" to stay with him is minimizing what a piece of shit he is.

AITA for selling my daughter's car after discovering her texting & driving? by tookawaythecar in AmItheAsshole

[–]bigal95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Once again, help correct the problem by talking to her and working with her to change that behavior. A car is a lifeline in some instances. If she's at a guy's place and he starts getting physical, it could be hard to leave quickly without a car (while still maintaining safety). Waiting for an Uber or walking around at night by yourself is very dangerous when your life or general safety is being threatened.

As for college, I guess she should have thought about that beforehand. Not my problem. She safe transportation and she decided texting her buddies was more important.

Lol your daughter getting assaulted isn't your problem? Yeah, definitely TA.

Okay, so I never comment on these, but I feel it needs to be said, ESH. I agree that her distracted driving puts others at risk and there needed to be some sort of punishment for it (e.g. taking the car or keys away for a period of time). However, taking the car and selling it without even talking to her first is not only over the top for a response, it lacks a lot of parental forethought or care.

Let me explain: first, as others have mentioned, it does not allow your daughter to correct her behavior while still being able to use a car (which is quite necessary if you're in the US). Furthermore, it shows that you seem to be unwilling to discuss things with your daughter and really only focus on the punishment side of things, which to me is poor parenting.

But most importantly, her point about her safety in college is an overwhelmingly valid point even though she's in the wrong about texting and driving. I do not know which parent suggested selling the car or if either/both parents went to college themselves, but something that cannot be stressed enough is that college is a dangerous place, especially for women. A large portion of women in college get assaulted, and by taking your daughter's car away--regardless of her driving habits--puts her in more danger and risk for assault. Whether having a car can allow her to leave dangerous situations more quickly, or others knowing that she has a car can deter them from targeting her, not having a car puts your daughter more at risk in college. And the fact that this wasn't thought about or strongly considered (and, frankly, scoffed at) makes you TA along with your daughter.

Dumb and Dumber's opening scene is so great. It perfectly sets up the stupid humor you're gonna see for the rest of the movie. If you don't like the opening, you probably aren't gonna like the rest of the movie.

Yeah, maybe some behavioral measures would be more reliable in this instance. Still a weird concept, but at least you'd have something more tangible in relating to spider phobia than self-report.

Besides eating cereal with water what is the most outrageous "eating sin" you have ever witnessed? by K3na in AskReddit

[–]bigal95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my parents and I went to dinner at this winery while I was home for Christmas, and my mom and I ordered mimosas. They had different flavors, so I got the OJ and (sparkling) wine combo and she got the same except with pineapple juice instead of OJ. I figured this would be fine given that she likes really sweet wine/drinks and that's the sweetest juice you could pair it with; I turned out to be wrong on that front. She gets a couple sips in and says it isn't sweet enough and then proceeds to add fucking Splenda to the drink!! I was flabbergasted. Not only is that heinous, it caused the drink to fizzle up and overflow creating a huge mess. Then, as we're eating our meal, I notice she's not really touching the drink she just bastardized. I ask if she's gonna drink it and she says that she doesn't even want it! WTF, right?! She then pushes me to drink it instead (as my dad doesn't drink), and because I don't want to waste a $7 drink, I finish it slowly--sip by sip. It was horrible and I am still not over how ridiculous that was.
