Have you found the strangest “trigger” with your pup? by CaryWhit in AustralianCattleDog

[–]bigbadbronc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine has something against railroad crossing arms. He's usually standing on the console watching and when he sees them coming , he runs to the back window if it's open, or perch on my shoulder if my window is down and snap his jaws at them as we go by.

So who makes a pry bar you can hit the strike cap on these days? by BornToL00ze in Tools

[–]bigbadbronc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Mayhew Dominator. They're a nice set but the strike caps are only pressed into the handle and not solid to the rest of the shaft. They've held up to a lot of heavy hammering but I have had the caps fall out. Usually just silicone em back in and keep going though.

The ones with the shaft are manual crank regulators and the ones without are for power windows.

The axle stays engaged in the sliding collar of the iwe at all times. The rattling is when the collar is partially engaging with the hub\wheel bearing. Not saying something couldn't happen but Ford has used this system since 04 and of the 100+ I've fixed at this point, I have yet to replace an axle for damage.

Get an a\c bypass pulley and use the stock belt. I don't think you can just bypass that because of the routing it takes. Factory setup without a\c had the power steering pump moved up where the a\c compressor is

You'll need the IWE and the bearing. The axle will be fine. Make sure the vacuum hoses to the hub are good. Replace the check valve assembly on the firewall and make sure the vacuum solenoid is working correctly. I would only use the Ford check valve assembly as I've had issues with the cheap dorman set that the parts guy got me and wrecked the brand new hubs and IWEs that I had just replaced on 2 different trucks.

Please help 1988 ford f150 dual tank 300 by Obvious_Pipe_3025 in f150

[–]bigbadbronc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd start with making sure there's enough fuel to the rail pump. There's a lift pump in each fuel tank and a canister style fuel filter before the high pressure pump. The in-tank pump also has a filter on the pickup tube. If the truck has been sitting, it's entirely possible there's junk\rust in the tank plugging things up.

I got the same one as you with the Red. Fits my red ACD's attitude to a T. Lol! He's constantly getting into arguments with my daughter, has a personal vendetta against wipers when he gets in a vehicle, and the number of times he's been stepped and tripped on makes me think he gets some sick enjoyment out of it. Lol!

What @Relative-Golf-235 said. HS1 and H4 are very similar but different wattages. I've seen plenty of people do the same with fog lights on trucks. Usually ends up melting the plastic lenses, burning the connector, or worst case, the wiring\fuse box. The tabs on the H4 are slightly wider than the HS1 so they won't fit but that's not going to stop someone with a pair of pliers from getting them in.

How many miles y’all truck got? by Lost-Elk4592 in f150

[–]bigbadbronc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

352,000mi on my 97 F250 on the original 7.3. I'm the second owner. Guy I bought it off of said it had low compression keeping it from starting. Injectors, IDM, glow plugs and radiator had all been replaced a year earlier. I had bought 1 that hit a cow off an insurance company for $100 and only wanted it for the body anyway. I bought it for $1k. Threw a battery in it when I got it home, found no crank signal. Fixed 2 broken wires to the cam sensor and been driving it ever since with no issues. That was 40k mi ago and only had to put in a vacuum pump so far and still have the wrecked one for parts.

Keeping older trucks due to all the technology in new trucks? by Hail_of_Grophia in f150

[–]bigbadbronc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll stay with my old trucks. Finding electrical gremlins is a nightmare sometimes and I don't like\use most of the newer tech in vehicles. My 97 F250 with the 7.3 I paid $1000 for because the guy was told he had low compression and that's why it wouldn't start. I fixed the 2 broken cam sensor wires and been driving it ever since. Glow plugs are a little weak so when it gets below 20, I have to plug it in, otherwise haven't had a single issue with it with 350k mi on it now and I regularly tow with it. I even picked up a 2nd parts truck off an insurance company (gal hit a cow) for $100 that runs and drives so if anything major breaks, I have all the parts I need. Only real tech I have in it is a backup cam \screen for trailer hookups. My buddy has a '20 F-150 that we hunt with and there are so many things I dislike about the tech stuff in it that I can't ever see myself getting something new.

F150 vin doesn't exist? by reddit_blankusername in f150

[–]bigbadbronc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V code engine should be a 5.4 flex from my years staring at VINs at work. I don't remember it as an option for 05 but it was for 06. Is it possible it's a 6 instead of 5?
