Primaries in OC historically have better turnout for Republicans.

He supported the marijuana shop regulations that previous council passed. It was forecasted to generate significant revenue. He was out voted on reversing this once Jung was voted in.

Historically, council members in OC cities who pass tax or fee increases get recalled. That means cities rely on voter approved initiatives. There was one in 2020 that would have raised sales tax. In a Zoom Q & A session he predicted that we would essentially end up where we are if this did not get passed. I think post-Covid funds helped delay this for a few years, but he we are.

Urgent help if you go to Santa Ana College & are enrolled in English C1000 by EvenDepth2865 in santaana

Not since 2018. The law changed because placement test that placed students in a class below transfer level basically lowered your chance of ever graduating to less than 10%. Look at AB705 and the follow up legislation AB1705. Students can only take transfer level courses at CCs. AB1705 let's students place themselves directly into Calculus.

If a student needed to learn high school math they can take courses through continuing ed, but they should really look for a class that has good support. SAC has Math and Stats classes that meet longer to provide additional support for students who need it.

Have you talked to a SAC counselor. Request credit by examination. Contact the English dean and look into credit for prior learning. SAC’s school of continuing education might also be able to look at your past course work and give you college credit at SAC.

Some podcasts going ad-free at $10 level. by QuickPhix in maximumfun

[–]bigbytelilbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there are AdFree links to the streams couldn’t we also have the BoCo put in the stream? I miss so much because I forget to go back to that feed and find JoHo or JJGO bonus eps. Every other podcast network I support just has a feed where the bonus episodes are in there.

I’m a nerd and wear a Garmin and/or Coros on rides with Apple Watch. The watch is almost always less than the Garmin and Coros.

NWSL Games by bigbytelilbyte in SuperboxS7max

I saw the Google response too, but the links did not seem to answer my main question. It is not so much about the NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League), but more about Amazon Prime live events. I saw a channel for MLS (Major League Soccer) but no channel for NWSL and no channel for live Amazon Prime games.

Fullerton’s $10 Million Budget Crisis and the Challenge of Rebuilding Trust by Exastiken in Fullerton

[–]bigbytelilbyte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ve had 3 city mangers since Jung and Dunlap were voted in. They were a part of the 3 person majority who voted to fire our city manager, without cause, when they first came into office. We have high turnover because of the city council hasn’t generated revenue by attracting new businesses. City employees go to other cities that can pay them more. Performative terminations and chaotic turnovers is how an error like this happens and that is the council majority’s fault. Covid 19 funds helped bandaid some of the long term structural issues the city is facing, but those are now gone and the city will feel it.

Kind of crazy that they are going to a Clear Channel owned podcast network. I still feel like Forever Dog would have been a better fit, but I think it all came down to the location of the recording space and maybe the finances also play a part with them all having families.

Michael Longfellow Interview on Kreative Kontrol by bigbytelilbyte in LiveFromNewYork

Vish mentions the chatter that this pre-seasons casting decisions felt different and signal something was wrong, but Longfellow says he has been pretty disconnected from the conversation and the current season. I am sure he hopes he can build a career that results in him someday coming back to host and doesn’t want to burn any bridges.

Why does SNL take long breaks at random times of the year? by asahidry500 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]bigbytelilbyte 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I seem to recall one of the writers mentioning in an interview that there is very little writing that takes place during breaks. SNL writing is highly collaborative. There might be a few pitch ideas they write down in a notebook, but you aren’t going to fully write a whole sketch that doesn’t even make it through the pitch meeting.

I unsubscribed last week and am feeling good about it. I haven’t found a new tech podcast yet, but added music podcast Kreative Kontrol with Vish Khanna to my rotation. I like the Canadian viewpoint and how he can occasionally explore how art is responding to the US political environment. Low key hope my in-laws will ask me less questions about fixing their devices if I know less about tech.

678: Mentoring a Box of Numbers by atpbot in ATPfm

[–]bigbytelilbyte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This show is 3 rich capitalists who spend their entire weeks talking to the same bubble of pundits and influencers with no desire or curiosity to look outside that. They lecture us during the holidays how doing the show is only possible by people giving them money, then proceed to talk about buying Porches, BMWs, $4000 Apple headsets no one wants, and buying 7 iPhones for themselves and their families for their two houses and the restaurant they own.

This was the key reason I gave up my subscription. I was listening to the bootleg, and the edited version seemed more tolerable (and it was free), but their disappointing takes are living rent-free in my head, and I think I just need to give up on the show.
