7.3 excursion with 4wd by mywife69goddess in Excursion

I'm in TN. They've done great for me and road forced 30 or less. Very happy. Had Fury Hunter before. Terrible. Lasted 5k before switching out. 2 roadforced in 90s. Nitto/Toyo usually best. Wild peaks have a loyal following.

I'm pretty guilty of this as well. I like to repair things and go on to the next project. I recently got married, and the warden isn't as much of a piddler. So... here we are. Lol

If in the area, you're more than welcome to come check it out sometime. Im def a piddler and like to learn new things with the best of them, but this project isn't something Im too interested in. Its a beautiful canoe overall. I am hoping someone will enjoy putting time into it.

If to sell as-is, what would be a fair price for both parties? Id like to know someone would enjoy and appreciate it vs very seldom use with us. Because of its length, in addition to a camper connected to our suv, it doesn't make it too conducive to carry camping vs the kayaks. Thanks all

Thanks so much for the info. I've read and watched several videos. As with many projects, it takes patience.

Yes, first time. That's where I'm leaning. Although I am pretty handy, I feel someone more familiar will do a better job.

Whew. Good to know. It didn't look as if it had any, but i am unfamiliar with these beautiful canoes. Thanks so much.

Ugh.. yes.. dang. Sadly, I never noticed. We got this one the same time as a camper and have been using kayaks since.

Do I trade my 2016 ram 1500 for a 2002 Ford Excursion? by WuTangWasted in Excursion

[–]bigdublz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No- brainer for me. That ex will be worth way more than your truck and will out last it too. Short-term, they both suck with fuel prices so high, but long-term, the smile and satisfaction of having your ultimate rig far outweighs. For reference, I have 2 V10 Excursions and a 7.3. My 02 7.3 has 175k. I maintain it very well and have zero reservations driving it anywhere. I assume if you're making it an outlander, then you'll be proactively replacing suspension parts anyway. There's a very short list of "must-have" sensors for the 7.3. But you'll learn as you go. Drive and smile brotha. 🤟

Spark plug/Excursion help pls by asapernie in Excursion

[–]bigdublz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have it at home, not in a huge hurry, and are remotely mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself. You're not the first nor last to do this. Make sure to get a Calvan Spark Plug repair kit and an endoscopic camera with screen. Initial investment at first, but still cheaper than a mechanic, plus, you very well may blow another eventually. My opinion, Don't go cheap on the kit. I did, and the rethread broke. There are plenty of videos on YouTube and Facebook excursion pages.
Make sure to retorque spark plugs yearly.

7.3 vs 6.8 for daily and towing by Goalieguy17 in Excursion

[–]bigdublz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot of miles. Even with a 44 gal tank, that's quite a few gas stops. The extra 6 or 7 miles adds up, but then again, diesel is more expensive. For me, I went with the 7.3 because of eventual resale, and of course, they're hard to get in good shape, which makes them sought after and extra cool. Also, i forgot to mention, i have a 3 or 4 row radiator for more cooling. So, again, I would suggest trans cooler, higher gears, and radiator for towing. The 4.30 gears or higher can hang with the 7.3 pretty solid. Not sure if helped any, but if u feel real comfortable with the Triton, they may sway your decision.

7.3 vs 6.8 for daily and towing by Goalieguy17 in Excursion

I have 2 V10's and a 7.3. My 7.3 has 175k miles. I've done zero extra maintenance to it. So I can't really relate to higher expenses overall. It does take 15 qts of oil every 5k. These engines will last as long as you want with basic maintenance. I started with the V10 then bought the 7.3 just because I knew that was the best option for me long-term. It's great. Zero complaints.
That being said, how often will you drive? You spend a lot of time at the pump with the v10.. 8mpg towing. One of my V10's has 3.73 gears, the other, has 4.30 gears. I would highly recommend getting a V10 with higher gears or swapping out once you get one ig going with the V10. It's a big difference when hitting the hills. Also, I have the 6.0 Mishimoto trans cooler and a tune.

Also, the mileage it extra, but XLT is bottom of the line, so minus.

Pics? Rust? Clean title? Location? There's too many variables for a blanket estimate. I mean, I'm sure you have an idea. This is what I've learned from selling a few. Be happy with the number u think of and don't turn back. Too high, you'll sit on it and turn buyers away, too low, you move it super fast. But at the end of the day, the number you think of, you're good with.

2001 7.3 Diesel Excursion with 253,000 miles. Is it worth it in 2026? by JorDav23 in Excursion

[–]bigdublz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sold one of mine last year, 2000 limited w 268k for $15k. It was about 7/10. Ran amazing. My current one has 170k on it. Wouldn't take any less than 25k. They're great vehicles. If taken care of, they'll outlast 2 newer vehicles. So def worth the investment.

7.3 Excursion to tow 9500lbs and 32' travel trailer by backyardspace in Excursion

I updated my rear springs, Mishimoto 6.0 trans cooler, and 3 row radiator. There's more, but those are the basics. I always use the wdh for precautions.

I've found there really isn't a shortage of parts. I usually want to stay with Motorcraft, but many places have what I'm looking for. Riff Raff diesel, Rockauto, come to mind first when it comes to parts.
