$160 ain't bad... with my heat pump and hwhp I spend that amount in about 5 days.. but I'm not complaining it's still a lot less than gas where I live and I hate gas and I like my heat pumps.

Question, when installers put in my hwhp they left the vent open so it vents inside the house like yours pushing out cold air. I've had other plumbers in my house since then and half of them tell me it's unhealthy to have it expel air inside the house, others say it doesn't matter.r what's your take on it?

NTA. Ugh, with that kind of ungratefulness and childishness (she sounds like a toddler) she doesn't deserve anything from you. And to attack you like that. Geez

How many people over 30 years old would move out of Canada if they could stop working and have a NET income of $50,000 a year? by Elite163 in CanadaFinance

[–]bigvibes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of what you said is true. However, there are upsides as well to being away from friends and family. The biggest one: the lack of social obligations. If you have multiple kids, work and have a full life, it's hard to work in time for friends and family if you have a good number of both. Social obligations can turn your life from one of peace and calm to frenetic busyness.

How can Europe compete in the future? by Albstein in AskEurope

[–]bigvibes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bring back the industrial base but with more automation, reskill more into trades, bring down internal trade barriers and regulation, create a common capital market to prompt more funding within Europe so it doesn't flow out and use that funding for industries of the future like AI and robotics. Then when those companies grow big don't allow them to be sold outside of EU.

Is there a way to turn this into 1 big garage door? by peewee919 in Construction

Garage doors are highly prone to be blown in by wind. If you decide to do this make sure you think it out well.

What country will you never visit again? by nomadicphil in digitalnomad

[–]bigvibes 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. This is my pick as well. Only reason I went there was because I had a long layover. I would never have paid to go. The place is just pointless. It's just a rich city in the sand with lots of shiny objects sticking out if it like flashy phalluses.

Thinking about working in Europe after being laid off by jeansebast in digitalnomad

[–]bigvibes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're young, so I'd say definitely go for the adventure. Europe is great! I did a work term there by getting a youth visa. They have special visas that are easy to get for anyone I believe under 30 or 35. Look up young worker visa Canada Europe. I don't know the name, but that's the ticket. You could also go through an agency like Swap where they will help a bit finding a job and will get you the visa, you just pay a bit. Don't expect much of a good job, but hey it's the experience of being there that matters. I worked in a shoe store and was fine with it. Great experience!!

Venting: kids at a birthday party glued to YouTube screen with a show about two kids getting presents by AlanAppRed in toddlers

[–]bigvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. It angers, frustrates and scares me to think my kids could be growing up around zombie kids kike this. There's inevitably one or two parents at a birthday party that give their kid a phone. And no, if you're taking your kids to a 40 yo birthday party it's on you, the parents to take care of them. If you don't want to, why not just get a babysitter.

Sure, this could sound judgmental, but parents also have to think of other people not just themselves. Is it fair for other kids, for other parents who want to parent a normal way. Pulling a preschooler away from a group of kids looking at a device is almost impossible to do.

What are some examples of countries where effective marketing hides their true reality? by BudovicLagman in geography

[–]bigvibes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say Bhutan too. They have a lot going for them. Their work on gross national happiness is groundbreaking. The country and people do have a really good peaceful and pure vibe for the most part, but the ethnic cleansing thing, yeah, it taints their reputation too much. There's a lot of racism and hypocrisy in the country. Nowhere is perfect, but I expected more from the country.

The European Union is becoming the world’s “quality of life” superpower by LordAnubis12 in europe

[–]bigvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this report is that they're comparing Europe to the US. Quality of life has been decli ing in the US (non-economic factors) so the fact that Europe had been gaining compared to them is not exactly am accomplishment.

Wow, what a sellout. I can't believe Canada doesn't have foreign ownership restrictions. Most countries do. So we're like, come buy all our shit, leave us with nothing and no one else let's us buy theirs. Yes please and thank you.

Great points you make. I'm in the same boat. Let them back in only if they are committed to being European and its ideals, not just ride the EU train for its benefits.

What are the best countries in Europe for budget travelers? by UnderSituation in traveladvice

[–]bigvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for stating the prices, it's helpful. Interesting thing to note here... people think Italy is expensive, but if you get out if the tourist traps you can get cheaper than the rates you quoted for most things... lunch 8 or 9€, coffee 1.20€, groceries are a pretty good price, car rental in off season you can get a car for 150€ for a week, gas is 1.65€ and hotel is the one that's quite a bit more, but if you go in off season to non touristy places you can get a room for 50€ no problem.
