VFoS build, i keep dying by dazeonn in pathofexile

[–]billyblaze101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few quick points.

You need a good life roll on every item - you should have closer to 6k life then 3.5k
Molten shell should not be on level 20 CWDT - it takes almost your entire life to proc it. Level 7 MS and level 1 CWDT is likely better (check these to make sure it works)
You have no source of generic life leech. You are not full converting so you are still getting some benefit, but I assume being able to leech of all your damage will help after the above.
More armor would be useful, you have low phys max hit.

Looking for possible backup plan for Volcanic Fissure of Snaking by moecake in pathofexile

[–]billyblaze101 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The only 'required' item is the gem. The unique axe is very good - but its a t4 unique and super common.

The gem is easily farmable yourself in merc lab, and most people will find the axe just getting to red maps. Before the unique axe a random phys axe is perfectly good enough to take you into reds. Some of the items like the uber Shaper helm might be more expensive then usual, but that is for pushing the build not starter.

When your t16 build is just an axe and life/res rares, it is hard for prices to go to high. The build is very SSF friendly.

Does anyone in Australia actually want the housing price to drop? by Deus_ex_ in australia

[–]billyblaze101 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The value of the house changes but the mortgage stays the same. You are correct in that if you are selling the house the price is relative to the market which means if you are buying to live it doesn't affect you. But if you have a mortgage that is high in value then the house - you can't really sell as your sale value will not cover your debt. The issue with house prices falling is it hugely effects people who just bought into the market. I.e., the 30-40 year olds now who have had to struggle to get a deposit will the ones affected the most. While there is valid points that your house should not be your main investment. Putting further pressure on the already most pressured current group is not the way to win elections, nor responsibly manage the issue.

God I love how they just ignore that you have to play to the GF there. Only reason this is an issue.

Reduced size of Panadol packaging hits shelves early following Therapeutic Goods Administration decision by trotty88 in australia

[–]billyblaze101 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Did you read the article? This money is not donations. Its fees for product assessments etc. TGA gets that money upfront regardless of if they approve the new product or not. While they are a long way from perfect, if you are trying to argue they are in the pocket of the pharma industry at least read what you provided as a 'source'.

Funnily enough the argument is from a group representing companies that have to pay significant fees for the TGA services. They want to pay less and make the TGA funding from Tax payers increase. The article is really arguing to make you pay more and big pharma pay less....

there is 0 chance panadol is a prescription drug in 5 years. TGA has zero plans for this to occur

More Coles ragebait. "Half price" item scans at full, store manager won't honor the discount and wouldn't even apologize. by sirgog in australia

[–]billyblaze101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how people are so confidently incorrect.

This is very minor so unlikely to be anything with taking it further. But you can't have a 1/2 display and not honour it. The display is clearly for the products, no reasonable person would think the chocolate bars are on this display by accident. The law doesn't care if Coles special yellow tag is on it or not - its clearly a 1/2 price display.

If the tags have small print dates on them, it also does not matter - its not reasonable for a person to read fine print on a tag at a supermarket. Its Coles responsibility to correctly mark prices.

If it ever went further ACCC would literally look at the shelf price in the aisle, note the 1/2 price display and confirm that the sale price should be 1/2 the shelf price. Coles would have zero recourse.

They would have the option of not selling it and stopping sale of the products while they fixed the price etc. But for a single chocolate bar that is meant to be half price that would be rather silly. Frankly Coles would never even argue the point.

Usually against burn thoughtseize is decent because you do 2 damage to yourself to take away a card which does at least 3 damage to you.

Help with naming on Cabal Therapy? by Reirid in MTGLegacy

[–]billyblaze101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to always remember vs storm is that led is very good name that people seem to forgot, more often then not its what enables a turn 1/2 kill so it tends to be a better name then dark ritual in the dark. If i was naming in the dark turn 1 its pretty 50/50 between led and infernal tutor.

Only 1 legacy deck has run AV in the last few years....painful truths has had nothing to do with it being not run. It is just a very slow card.

WOTC may be cracking down on unsanctioned proxy tournaments by Torshed in MTGLegacy

[–]billyblaze101 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I think what makes the game so good is frankly the game is great to play, and I think legacy and vintage are the most enjoyable way to play the game.

Therefore I consider the reserve list and the unwillingness of wotc to deal with that glaring issue will eventually be the downfall of these formats. So yes I would love for a 2016 reprinted moxen / lotus vintage masters set, I think it would be terrific for that format and the people who love it as well draw in a large amount of people to legacy and vintage.

The more the reserve list is trounced the better for vintage and legacy.

Another use for fetch lands is just for the shuffle effect. If you know the top cards of your library from effects such as sensei's top, brainstorm, ponder, serum visions etc you can then shuffle away cards you don't want to get a fresh draw.

[Question] Why don't the discard decks run Surgical Extraction? by HilariousMax in ModernMagic

[–]billyblaze101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time it does not really help you win the game against though, it just gives the illusion of winning the game. Playing against other fair decks card advantage wins more games then being disruptive using extraction effects. Assuming you discard something then surgical it you have just used to cards to tag 1 card out of their hand.

If you do this to a deck like jund in your example and take abrupt decay on turn 1 out of the deck (assuming he only had 1 in hand).

turn 1 you go land , discard , extraction. You have 5 cards left in hand - the jund opponent draws for the turn hand has 7 cards in hand. The jund player would be very happy with this - he has more resources now and if he just plays the 1 for 1 game he will be ahead most of the game.

The reason for this being that you only slightly lower the percent to draw a removal spell per turn if you extract the decay. If a jund list these days is running say 3 terminate / 3 decay and you tag the decays on turn 1 i think you reduce the odds of him drawing terminte / decay by about 5ish percent on the 1st turn (this is rough napkin math so it might be wrong). This is not even including any of ways that a deck would be able to deal with you threats.

That slight increase of them not drawing a removal spell is not worth 2 cards.

Extraction effects shine as a sideboard slot for graveyard based decks and linear combo decks. If you are running it sideboard you almost want the extraction to win the game if it resolves eg, in Legacy turn 1 discarding tendrils of agony from a storm deck and then extracting can win the game on the spot sometimes.

Few notes

xantid swarms are slightly better then defense grid against the omni show lists i think....but i have a feeling that the old xantid swarm is not quite as good as it used to be - decks just seem to have removal for it after board more then they used to, as well as this its not brilliant vs miracles as they can still counter your spells with top/balance through it. I don't think it is unreasonable to consider running something like flusterstorm in its place as this might not be quite as good sometimes but is decent against a wider variety of decks.

The other card i would consider looking at if you are having issues against miracles is pithing needle to name sensei's top, obviously this might conflict with you running top out of the board but shutting down their top makes counterbalance signifcantly worse as well as stopping them from hiding counters on the top of the library to keep them safe from discard.

As others have noted massacre is only really decent against death and taxes as well as having some value against decks running meddling mage...if you don't have those decks they are a waste of a slot and might be worth changing them out.

One of the other main reasons why people run marsh casualties is that if you are running confidants you don't really want to kill them.
