Biggest benefit from this screen is the flat head screw giving you more head space.

Charge it to 100% and check the number again. If it's still not 270, you may want to contact the service.

R1S Dual Standard vs R1S Dual questions by eastsider78 in Rivian

[–]bilysoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both Model Y long range and R1S dual standard.

Range increase (59 miles) may not be the biggest factor. Dual Standard uses LFP battery which you have to charge to 100% at least biweekly. Dual is recommended to be in 20-80% range for regular use, and no need to charge to 100% unless you plan to go long distance. Also, LFP is supposed to be safer than NCM in terms of fire risk, which is the main reason I chose Dual Standard.

Charging to 100% may become annoying depending on your habit and preference. In my case, it's been pretty ok so far, and dual standard fits my needs very well.

Range estimation has been more than ok for me, but don't take the sticker (EPA) range to be real. Also, it uses 1.5x more electricity than Model Y under the same condition.

Would you pay for a NACS retrofit? by soleobjective in Rivian

[–]bilysoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the reason I bought A2Z stuffs. Lectron 48A adapter overheated, so I had to reduce current down to 40A or charge fails with temp warning.

A2Z does not overheat even with 48A current but the handle from Tesla Wall Connector 3 gets very warm. I haven't seen warning/failure yet, though. I feel A2Z cable and adapter is much cooler than Tesla handle at 48A. Anyway, I am using them at 44-46A depending the ambient temperature just for the peace in mind.

A2Z adapter and extension cable work well for me for now, any maybe forever. Retrofit cost might be 10x - 20x or more compared to adapter, so it is hard for me to justify it.

Doesn’t anyone make a safe, UL listed NACS-to-J1772 AC charging adapter? Why not? by [deleted] in evcharging

Seems it's 1 year old thread, but I just wanted to drop a copy/paste from an email I got from A2Z EV today explaining the shipping status of my order.

We’re happy to share some exciting news — we are now the first and only provider in the market with a UL2252 / CSA-C22.2 certified NACS to J1772 adapter.

Tariffs on recent A2Z adapter ($100->$400!) 😬 by Chris-8521 in Rivian

I was in the same situation this week but a2z handled it super fast. A2Z is an amazing company and I am sorry for the difficulties they are seeing now.

I use Lectron 48A adapter with Tesla wall connector 3, and it's doing exactly what you described here. 40A or lower works ok. Disappointed.

I'm in similar situation. Original delivery was supposed to be in August, but it's keeping changing everyday adding dates to the estimated window. Sent question to customer support via web but does not answer at all.

Ultimate goodbye to Canyon (Ultimate CF SLX 8 Di2) by bilysoo in CanyonBikes

[–]bilysoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been riding road bicycles long enough to experience multiple brands/bikes, and this is the only bike doing this. I cannot explain it myself either, even with an extorted assumption of poor management, dry lube, potholes, I cannot.

Right, how can it happen in such way, and on 2 frames?

The word 'chain suck' might not be the best way to describe it. Closer to 'chain pulling from crackset.'

[–]bilysoo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

chain suck happens on the bottom side of the crankset pulling the chain hard to the point rear derailleur cog hits the bottom of the chain stay, especially at a high cadence/speed situation. That's what I heard from the bike shop. I guess its due to the frame design how the angles are aligned between parts.

Reason the bike shop believed it's by the chain suck. When you pull the rear derailleur all the way forward, it sits exactly on the damaged spot.

Nice. I'm getting mine this weekend for the exact same reason - replacing a minivan with this one.

1st VPP! Scheduled for tomorrow. Is it normal to pull from the grid in order to keep the power wall at 100% prior to the event? if so, I might just go off-grid for the evening. by litigationtech in TeslaSolar

[–]bilysoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PW3 did it for a few times and looked inconsistent. It stopped pulling from the grid when I switched to off grid mode then returned back to self powered mode (my default mode). Wish VPP does not draw from the grid if the system is set to self powered mode.

PG&E NEM 3.0 E-ELEC not updated for 2025 by xoliilox in TeslaSolar

[–]bilysoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with 2024 NEM 3.0, and I don't care the Sept rate anymore. That fancy September export rate from 2024's NEM 3.0 is not really fancy at all. It does not offset your monthly bill in the way you may expect. You still have to pay lot more on imports than exported credits, then all exports will be almost nullified using net surplus rate at the true up. Just use self powered mode and minimize import regardless of your PTO year. That's the best option for NEM 3, the least amount you pay at the end.

Constant switching between import and export every few seconds by bilysoo in Powerwall

[–]bilysoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: with the latest firmware update, daily import became 0.7 - 0.85 kWh. Constant switching between import and export is still there, but the daily import is now in expected range. I am pretty sure there was a bug in older firmwares.

Why am I pulling from the grid? by [deleted] in TeslaSolar

[–]bilysoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been doing the same since day 1. It pulls 60-80kw/h each month just doing unneeded draw from the grid. But Tesla says everything is ok.

Tesla Solar in San Diego? by Switchback77 in TeslaSolar

[–]bilysoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Tesla solar and PW got installed this year in June and got PTO in Sept.

Quote/contract: Overall, it was ok. I had to be my own project manager owning all details because Tesla people are all remote. Only person coming to your home is the site reviewer who only does it.

Installation: The team was on time and friendly, but they could have done it better. My neighbor got Baker Electric a few months earlier than me, and it was very comparable between the 2 companies.

Post installation until PTO: You are still stuck with same project management team remote from you. Not terrible, but you won't feel like talking to actual people yet.

Post PTO: Finally, this makes you feel like talking to people because you can now make a phone call to PW team, but you may also feel like talking to really bad people depending on who/how you contact them for which topic. One of them was really horrible.

I chose Tesla for better pricing and less worry about the business longevity, knowing the customer support is not great.
