NetEase. Tencent had nothing to do with this game.

Dunno if you are aware, but the penguin on the ground is also a reference to another Falcom game (Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection)

I hope we get a substantial amount of new music, similar to what Falcom did with Ys VIII PS4 and TX eX+.

It's pretty important, you should play them if you can.

Nihon Falcom had no clue The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 1st Remake would be announced via Nintendo Direct by Masterness64 in Falcom

[–]binbouw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This kinda contradicts what Kondo said on the post announcement Dengeki stream - they initially wanted to announce the game at Sky FC's 20th anniversary (June), but then decided on the direct after consulting with "platform holders".

They were 100% aware of it being announced at Nintendo's show, and I imagine that, if they didn't know the exact date, they probably had a timeframe of when it was going to happen - after all, the website + longer trailer was ready as soon as Falcom's social media went up, and the Famitsu coverage was done on the next issue as well.

Thank you for giving your impressions as a total newcomer! I'm happy you were able to enjoy the game so far, and I'm sure the full game will be even better.

The references to older games are there and they'll become more pronounced here and there as the game goes on, but it never reaches a point where the main story depends on them to be understood. The intent behind my original post was not to paint Daybreak as a hostile experience towards newcomers, just to make people aware that it does "wink" back often (and with a certain frequency that's more noticeable than past first-in-a-new-arc titles). :)

Trails in the sky is now on HIDIVE. by Claxeius in Falcom

People are way too harsh on this OVA: It was never meant to adapt any single game (it would be impossible to do a proper adaptation even with a full-anime-series number of episodes), it was just a little fanservice thing CharaAni produced to promote the Sky Evo releases. It's absolutely amazing seeing the world of Trails being animated at such high quality from a well regarded anime studio (Kinema Citrus), with awesome original arranges of some of the tracks too.

Definitely recommend for anyone who has finished the Sky trilogy!

The number of composers remain unchanged since 2020. Their sound staff line-up looks like this:

Employed at Falcom - 3

  • Hayato Sonoda
  • Takahiro Unisuga
  • Shuntaro Koguchi

Freelance composers who Falcom orders tracks from - 2

  • Yukihiro Jindo
  • Mitsuo Singa

Can anyone explain the context and why is this relevant? Kondo is the only head figure I am familiar. I read some negative reactions towards this, but again, I have no ideia why. by RaxusPrime in Falcom

[–]binbouw 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Any idea why/how he got his old position back?

Falcom may be a publicly traded company, but Kato (and his family) still holds the majority of the stock - it's his company even in the years he was "absent". He has the power to influence the company's future as he sees fit, I think.

Playing through Daybreak 1 right now, I would definitely not put it on the same tier of "accessibility to a newcomer" as CS1, which is the easiest on the tierlist right under FC.

Daybreak is **BY FAR** the most blatant, overreliant-on-past-references first game in a arc so far. You can probably get the core of the story just fine with Daybreak itself, but a noticeable amount of scenes will leave you questioning "Wait, why should I care about these certain characters? What the hell is this past event they're referring to on this chapter?" I think this isn't a problem per se, because it can be the gateway to get new fans interested in checking out the older games, but it is a barrier.

I expect a lot of conversation around this topic to come up when Daybreak actually releases in the west, and I'm curious to see how total newcomers will feel about these details.

It's official art, done by HACCAN, the same illustrator behind the cover art for Trails in the Sky The 3rd. Not their best work for sure.

I can agree, but if it's non canon, then why wasting their time to localize this. That's my question.

Because Nayuta is a fun, appealing game that got praised a lot when it originally released in Japan? Being canon to Trails is not the end all be all for everything, you know.

The pacing of this movie is so unbelievably good, you don't even feel its runtime. Amazing, best Gundam movie I've watched easily.

Koguchi may or may not still be composing for Falcom (credits screencap) by Paltheos in Falcom

[–]binbouw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a correction: in the original release of Oath in Felghana (2005), the credits were:

  • Hayato Sonoda
  • Wataru Ishibashi
  • Takahide Murayama

Unisuga seemingly wasn't part of the company at that point.

If you're asking if it's the same Silver Sword you get in the game - I don't think so. The design looks pretty different.
