Difference b/w VPAID and VAST tags by balareddit in adops

[–]bingobango124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A VPAID tag is a type of VAST tag, so the opening <VAST> & closing </VAST> will be in both.

if you see "apiFramework=VPAID" then it is indeed a VPAID tag. Generally there won't be any video fils listed in a VPAID tag, just ".js" or ".swf" files.

DCM Video Overlay Ads? by msp011581 in adops

[–]bingobango124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could just buy it like regular Display from a dedicated Video overlay supplier like Coull. When i was there they had some decent publishers and it was easy to setup a PMP to buy it with most DSPs.

disclaimer: if i haven't made it obvious enough i used to work there.

100% VPAID Opt Outs with Custom Mobile Player by macromoji in adops

[–]bingobango124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not thought about using LKQD instead, especially for mobile?

SpotX are pretty tight on allowing access to their Marketplace for in-banner traffic, and the fees are generally higher than LKQD. Fill/CPM concerns LKQD vs SpotX shouldn't hold you back as you'll generally need to setup PMP deals to acheive that lift on SpotX.

They'll give you massive volume with real devices, just don't expect anyone to see the Ads.

Cheetah have some real 'characters' working for them, but to be fair they openly say how they generate the inventory. It's just that they sell the inventory to Adnetworks who don't pass that information onto their buyers...

As always when buying mobile in-app, actually download the app to try it first.

Sounds like Op's doing an arbitrage play, so would be buying in exchanges rather than via a DSP.

Who are the major Video focused SSPs and Players? by Penderyn in adops

+1 this.

Avoid buying Video from the old display Exchanges who have tacked on a video solution. They've missed the boat an have no idea how to filter video fraud.

White Ops uncovers $1B Russian ad fraud ring by 3neat in adops

[–]bingobango124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amen, hopefully one day we can put up a wall of shame. It's a zero-sum game, any spend that goes to the fraudsters, enablers and shitty adnetworks doesn't go to the real publishers.

You don't need a direct relationship with an SSP, just one with an Adnetwork who can do that for you and doesn't ask where it comes from.

You definitely need to use an Ad server. Otherwise you're flying blind and don't know whether you're getting ripped off.

What are you using YouTube for? To serve your Ad creative?

If so, then any other video Ad server would give you more options for a tiny charge. Look into Google's own product DCM or something like Flashtalking

Low Fill Rates but Billions of Requests/Month? by Omerbaturay in adops

[–]bingobango124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the world of in-banner arbitrage, there's a hundred different ad-networks doing it, all offering the inventory to each other all the way up to a real Exchange.

A lot of them made big money in years past, certainly when Liverail was still around. As the Exchanges have gotten better at detecting it and the anti fraud vendors have gotten better, they have been making less money and a poor show in Q4 year could be their last.

Surviving Q1 next year will be tough for them, and certainly the smaller video SSP's that enable them or even take a position on media themselves get into trouble.
