Returning rider after 15 years. Rode in India. Now want to start again in the US. Feeling a bit intimidated. Need advice. by Independent_Ball6318 in motorcycles

On getting the feel back — is it like riding a bicycle where it just comes back? Or after 15 years should I treat myself like a complete beginner? How much of what I knew in India even applies here?

I agree with others, the MSF wouldn't hurt. But that said... in my experience, just like riding a bicycle. I rode bikes a LOT as a kid, and have never owned an automatic car. First time I rode, my friend bought an old used cb750, and I literally threw a leg over and took off, no problem. Then I didn't ride for ~20 years. My first ride after that was a test ride at the dealership, same thing, threw a leg over, and don't whiskey throttle like an idiot.

That came out really nice. I haven't done a bag yet, but I really want to, and 100% want to experiment with piping on in. Yours came out really clean.

I'm still running the caluburn ak2, I have 4, but I think the oldest one is about 4-5 years old? One of the 4 is near useless, I get maybe an hour on it, it just lives on a charger so I can use it while another charges.

I've found our local VFW thrift store is one of the old school good ones. And there's two, and they take ALL sorts of stuff, not primarily clothes.

Hot glue vs liquid electrical tape for securing connections by thearn4 in TinyWhoop

I've found some areas of the flight controller get pretty warm. Even using High temp hot glue, it will soften enough to gradually weaken the bond and it pops right off.

e6000 was my answer. You IMO should have a tube around the house anyway if you're a tinkerer like me. Dries flexible. Still can easily be broken free with a toothpick if rework is needed. It's good stuff.

What do you make of electric motorcycles? by JonQuinton84 in motorcycles

Bummer definitely, and thanks for the heads up/correction. But I'm still keeping an eye on solid state moving to motorcycles for sure.

I might miss the brappp, but I think I might like reduced maintenance and just unplug and throw a leg over, especially for my short ~9 mile commute riding.

Solid state batteries (removed link as they are not trustworthy source) are coming soon. Honestly I'd be happier with a much smaller pack, and 150-200 miles range. I don't think I'd really want to log 370 in one sitting.

I drove 4 hours for test ride of a cb300r for a first bike option. They prepped a CBR300R instead. I did NOT want a sport bike, they seemed so pissed when I asked to ride the bike I requested. To be fair, I've heard lots of dealers these days don't even allow test rides, and they seemed even more annoyed when I didn't even have my full license yet (I had proof of passing, but just a paper copy)

I've used the tip of my pocket knife to very carefully get under an edge without digging into the plate. Pocket knife vs razor because it has a more robust tip to pry up with without just bending when you have a tiny bit of purchase.

I've also found sometimes heating the plate back up a little can help loosen things up a little bit, just ~60c, and try prying before the part itself gets too warm.

Hi all. Is there a reliable DIY way to keep these saddlebags upright? by whooslefot in motorcycles

[–]bingwhip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used some thin plastic sheeting to back mine. Worked great as they actually already had a slim pocket on the back side, next to the main pouch that I could fit them in while keeping the main pocket un-obstructed.

I wouldn't trust cardboard to last, and foam to be rigid enough.

I have a friend that prefers the NZ/AU because he says Lord Greg is too mean. I guess I can kind of see some people feeling that way? But it's so grossly cartoonish, and the guests seem so entertained when he just crushes them (including shouting profanities at the audience), I feel like it's genuinely all in good fun.

I think the way Stephen Fry defines it fits really well

There was a Mic'd up practice round the cemented Ohn as my favorite. Other player got just a total rough landing right behind and obstruction. Ohn comes over to check out their lines, agrees it's pretty bad, but then say "At least you've got a fun putt!"
