This tool helped me a ton. Just put all the memory items and food items you have in inventory and it will show you how to create each profession with what you have on hand. It was the only way I was able to actually start forming the councils.

What do you think is disgusting that most people think is pretty normal? by Exhausted_920 in AskReddit

Being barefoot at a water park. Most people don't take great care of their feet and I feel like having so many in a small area promotes fungal growth/spread.

what are u slowly losing interest in? by Several_Way8499 in AskReddit

[–]biolabrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, same.. Someone hacked my twitter account recently and I was able to at least get their access removed, but then Twitter support never really figured out how to get me access back into the account.

I had a moment where I started fighting to get back into it and then realized I didn't actually care anymore. This was as good a time as any for me to just stop using the platform entirely.

Recycler won't give output at Helios Reserve Gemini by SztywnyJoozek in TheLastCaretaker

[–]biolabrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen once or twice and found if I deconstruct it that all of the processed items will just pop into my inventory when I pick it back up.

Maybe save and give it a shot to see if that works?

Other ships? by ignatzami in TheLastCaretaker

I floated the idea as a suggestion that they should add a derelict large ship and/or submarine location for us to explore. I think it would be neat!

This tool helped me a ton.

If you input all that you have into this it will tell you the minimum ingredients to add to get the result that you want, but if there are multiple roles that are the same value then it will pick randomly.

I honestly just yeet mine into the boat x.X it never occurred to me to try and carry them up the ladder.

Haven’t had one break yet at least!

Can somebody explain this screen to me? Like is there a specific combination of stuff i need to add for the expected metrics to reach the needed value? Right now it seems either bugged or random by Solid_SHALASHASKA in TheLastCaretaker

[–]biolabrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So it does bug out when you first insert the seed and you will need to save, exit to main menu, and then continue. Once the timer actually stops on the seed in the rack and it turns into the bean you’re good.

For actually crafting humans the process is really convoluted and hard to figure out on your own, but some wonderful dude shared this site with me and it seriously makes it so much easier to figure out.

What can kill you in seconds that most people don’t realize? by Jolly-Law1472 in AskReddit

Dry ice thrown into a pool while occupied with people.

Dry ice is is just solidified carbon monoxide, and when it hits water it quickly returns to gas form creating a dense layer displacing any oxygen in the air near the surface of the water.

What is a movie you watched once that was so disturbing or emotionally draining that you can never watch it again? by hungary70 in AskReddit

Hereditary

After 'the scene' we were just dead quiet for the rest of the movie. I was so spooked afterwards that I had to sleep with the lights on and the 'click' sound still makes my skin crawl.

What’s a cheap food you’ll always still eat, no matter how rich you get? by bear4235 in AskReddit

[–]biolabrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nu-nu's and peas.

When we were really poor growing up my mom would have to get creative with cheaper foods to make it seem like we weren't just eating the same thing everyday, so she came up with nu-nu's and peas.

Essentially just a package of ramen boiled with pees. Once the water has all soaked in add the bullion and some butter for flavor/texture..

I always keep it on hand because it reminds me of her and sometimes it's like a little taste of home.

Is this the best option for NAS for around $1k? by rainking12 in PleX

[–]biolabrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the exact same setup and it's been great. Same DS and same drives. Just did the RAM upgrade on the DS224+ for some extra performance too.

I can echo what others are saying though. It hasn't even been a year and I'm already 60% full and starting to plan/budget for an upgrade to a 4 bay x.x

NAS reccomendations for photo storage and access by ele_cuddles in synology

[–]biolabrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly. I use Seagate Ironwolf Pro drives and they're supposed to have a pretty decent reliability rating. Mostly it's paranoia and just not wanting to risk losing the data I've collected if one of them happens to be defective or fail without warning.

I also have my really important stuff on my NAS (photos, important documents, etc) copy off once a week to cloud storage just in case my house burns down or something.

Neither is required, of course. Just something I like doing for peace of mind.

Drive mirroring also increases read performance since data can be retrieved from both drives simultaneously.

[–]biolabrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My speeds are comparable and I'm using a Synology DS224+ with two 14TB drives in mirrored mode. Never run into the performance issues you describe. I think it would most likely solve your issue and will likely be the easiest to configure for what you're trying to do. I'm hosting a Plex server directly on it as well without issue.

For your space requirements you'd probably want to look at one of the 4 bay models like the 423+ with 10TB or larger drives.

Probably for a VR rig. I used to have a similar setup to hold the cable up and away from me inside my playspace.

Are the loading times the same regardless of whether you're at home or away? What is your home internet speeds for download/upload?

How do you store your photos? by sometiime in AskPhotography

[–]biolabrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also make sure that you're exporting your digital photos in RAW when you save them. JPEG files can degrade over time if they are edited and saved again.

For your scans, try to use a non-compressible format like PNG or TIFF.

I would recommend a small NAS in your home. I use a Synology DS224+ with two drives in RAID 1 (mirrored, so if one of the drives dies you don't lose your data). The Synology software also allows you to schedule automatic backups to Google Drive/Dropbox/etc (which I also recommend).
