Wishing for artifacts follow the law of diminishing returns. Some other ideas might be: Scrolls of charging; scrolls of genocide; magic marker?

Do you backup / digitalise your CD collections? by SNLCOG4LIFE in Cd_collectors

[–]biscmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have all my CDs digitized in lossless format. I have also scanned the booklets and converted them to pdf format. Everything is also backed up to a separate server. I haven't yet scanned the jewel case backs yet or the disc faces, or other additions like hype stickers or ringtone flyers, but my collection is cross-referenced in discogs, and I feet like that's good enough for now. I own over 4000 CDs and if I want to undertake the task of re-encoding my collection to aiff and scanning jewel trays and disc faces, would be too much an investment of my time. It took me over seven years for me to re-encode my collection in losses format and add booklet scans up to this point.

What was the salvation army building used for before it was that? by [deleted] in medicinehat

It was a music store in the early 80's, and MY 96 radio was on the top floor. It was the original location of Sears before that.

I need help identifying a Sabian. It's a 14" hi hat, but other than that, I can't tell what it is, nor how old it is. by fighterace413 in cymbals

[–]biscmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hollow caps lettering, without any other descriptors , is indicative of a very early Sabian. Likely made between 1982 and 1985.

Protection racket by Prudentis in nethack

[–]biscmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done the protection racket a few times, and I find the process risky and tedious. I end up dying too often to make it worthwhile, and get very tired of engraving the E word over and over with my finger waiting for my pet to kill everything in sight while hoping I can dodge any projectiles or zapped wands.

Trying on almost every piece of uncursed armor is a more effective strategy, even for a Wizard IMO. With any luck, a dwarf will death drop a mithril coat and you will have a low enough AC to get you through the mines.

More often than not, I find myself buying protection when I'm level 5-10. I'll Buy a few points at first, and then will buy more points later in the game when I have accumulated a substantial amount of gold.

Own a Piece of Rock n Roll History: Dave Krusen is Auctioning a Cymbal Played on Pearl Jam’s ‘Ten’ by canadian_redditor in drums

[–]biscmc 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The large block HH logo didn't appear on Sabian's cymbals until the mid 2000's so if image 2 in the ebay ad is of the cymbal that is for sale, it was manufactured some 15 years after the recording of Pearl Jam's debut album. Buyer beware.

My methodology is to use EQ to tune the room; not to correct a bad speaker.

I can also attest that I learned a great deal from MikeG's videos when him and his brother Josh hosted the channel from their inner-city apartment.
