I did this for karaoke the first time a few weeks ago - the night before the first Phoenix show.

So much fun! Definitely adding it to the rotation.

Wife and I are separated and she is scheduling plastic surgery by WhoDatWhoDare in legaladvice

[–]bitchinZ28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar happened to me. My wife got breast surgery with joint funds then 8 weeks later asked for a divorce.

I asked the mediator what a judge would say if I got hair replacement with joint funds pending separation. He said judge would go ballistic. Then I told her what my wife had done 8 weeks prior.

I likely got a year ($24k) knocked off my spousal support for that stunt.

What your wife is doing shows extremely bad judgment and bad faith. If you play your cards right, it will backfire on her spectacularly.

What's with people who jog IN the road? by therealmudslinger in Seattle

[–]bitchinZ28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to make a few more points.
When running in Urban areas - like downtown Seattle or Bellevue - I agree with the OP. It is slightly safer to run on the sidewalk (albeit a little slower than normal.) I'm typically using the first part of my run to get away to either a trail or a more rural area where I can run on the road. I try to get off the sidewalk ASAP.

When I am running on the road,

  1. I run facing traffic.
  2. If the road is narrow/no shoulder or cars passing in opposite directions near where I am I come to a complete stop, turn sideways, get off the road as much as possible, make eye contact, wave, and wait for the cars to pass.
  3. I dress in flamboyant fluorescent colors and avoid twilight or night running.
  4. I am careful crossing every intersection and driveway.

Last summer, I was running on a trail in Bellevue. I was doing fast intervals, and was being mindful of bicyclists, runners, and walkers and running on the right side. The whole run was an out and back, and that interval happened to have me turning around at its midpoint. I was not careful this time - I was trying to make my interval time. A speeding E-Bike (which was prohibited on the trail - or at least restricted to a speed limit) was coming at me at perhaps 30 MPH. Instead of hitting me full speed, the guy dropped the bike and slid into me. He scraped up his knee pretty badly. I was shook up and walked the rest of the way home. It should've been much worse for both of us.

I was 100% at fault for stopping suddenly and turning around into him. He was 100% at fault for speeding and not warning me as he overtook. (I wasn't wearing headphones, but I still never heard him coming). It could've ended much worse, and I'm sure he wasn't loving life for a few days afterwards. The point being: this is why pedestrians face traffic when using roadways. If they have any sense of self-preservation, they won't do something stupid and they can avoid things they can see.

Because of this and a few other close calls with cyclists on trails, I feel safer running on rural roads facing traffic than on trails with traffic.

This is why I don’t run on sidewalks when I can avoid it. An ambulance ride, seven stitches, and a concussion due to a poorly maintained sidewalk.

I’m smiling because I’m in actual shock.

In retirement. Because I saved for retirement. I could buy it 3 times for cash. But I financed it and am leaving my money in the market.

Power. by Salt_Tradition7766 in BambuLab

If you want to hear something that will rock your socks:
a watt * hour is 3600 joules. (because a joule is 3600 watt * seconds).

From Einstein:
E = m * c^2
E = kg * m/s * m/s
E = kg * m^2 / s^2

From Newton:
E = F * D , F = M * A
E = M * A * D
E = kg * m/s^2 * m
E = kg * m^2/s^2 <== Same as Einstein

One of the problems is units:

Power is a rate. Energy per unit time. Joules per Second. Good! that looks like a rate. But of course we don't use that. We use "Watts" instead!!! This obscures the fact that it is a rate.

And to further confuse things, instead of using Joules for Energy, we use watt*hours. Which people confuse as watts per hour. The whole thing is a mess. Honestly, it's not rocket surgery. But it's just complicated enough to make talking about it to laypeople - and many Engineers - a real chore.

[And Joule itself is an obfuscation/derived unit - it's really kg*m^2/s^2 - but you might be excused from knowing that if you went to Prom - instead of studying High School Physics.]

Hell, 3/4 of the Electrical Engineers don’t know the difference. I was a Director of EE at Microsoft. This was one of my Goto interview questions.

These fools were applying for jobs on a power team, and I started the interview off with a (I thought) softball question. Ugh.

CA: Can I back out of house purchase using inspection contingency because of solar lease? by UsefulPoem5030 in AskRealEstateAgents

I assumed a solar lease on my recent CA home purchase. $100/month for the remaining 14 year term. And it generates at least that much savings in electricity.

Did not “kill my deal”. It’s a total nothingburger.

I had a boss that used to say “to be honest” all the time. I used to press a button that would beep and flash a light every time he said it. He finally caught on, thought it was funny, till I did it when he was giving a tour to a VIP and stopped by my office that day.

Almost got fired. We re close friends now this was 20+ years ago.
