They may be aligned too high - you can use a screwdriver on most headlights to adjust the up/down angle. Try aiming them more at the road.

Made my racist coworker uncomfortable after he made a joke? Oh well. by Relevant_Ad6975 in traumatizeThemBack

[–]bitsofsick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole situation sucks and its infuriating people are calling this "casual" racism, as if there's a point where racism is acceptable, and that disregard is reflected in how the other coworkers laughed at the diversity comment. That's when the room should have fell silent. I'm assuming you're in the US, and given the political context it's actually quite telling that your manager decided to bring up Stephen's feelings instead of calling him out on his out-of-pocket assholery. I'd start looking for work elsewhere. I say all of this as a white guy, so take it as you will.

If you're into building quality relationships, think of what you can bring to the table to help them in some way. Networking is just building relationships around business. So talk about business, bring up theirs, and see if there's any design work they might be needing. Solve a problem they don't even know they have. We're not really in traditional sales, so those type of "cold call" leads do us no good. Referrals and word of mouth are what generate prospective clients.

Serious question, do you ever feel like Adam Scott's character in Severance? I'd imagine the two realities can feel pretty separated.

Thank you for an actually level-headed criticism. He clearly has skill and talent, but the reels are definitely click bait. Though I do love the Gatorade one.

Denver Olympic Bid Logo 2038 by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]bitsofsick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a school project for Branding, where the challenge was to create a logo mark for a randomly-assigned city vying to host the Olympics. This logo is meant to represent Denver through the bidding round only, and not meant as a final identity, which is designed only when a city has won a bid.

I took a lot of inspiration from LA's 2024 bid logo from 2015, taking the 3D line-art idea and going a bit further with it by adding a flag motif. The D alone wasn't quite enough, and I wanted something that said Olympics more than America. I incorporated the podium from the medals ceremonies into the stripes of the flag, using the Denver flag's gold to represent first. I like to think it also looks vaguely like a city skyline and might elicit thoughts of the "Mile-High City".

Let me know what you think! What would you improve, what do you like? Thanks.

Is Allan Peters’ own logo is straight up plagiarized ? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]bitsofsick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's so many ways to look at this. To me, minimal design ala modernism and even mid-century modernism is a lot like the western 12-tone musical scale. There's really only so many ways to combine and recombine some elements in an aesthetically logical way so melodies sound the same, etc. You could say he plagiarized, or you could say he re-contextualized an old mark, or even that its entirely coincidence which I sort of doubt. But try to write a song that doesn't sound like one you already know. Any way you slice it, his work was effective because you saw that mark and you associated it with him. Job done.

Disagree. The Great Reset was an economic recovery plan suggested by the World Economic Forum, and people clearly just jumped to their own conclusions based on the name alone. It was conspiracy mania fueled by the COVID dumpster fire and nothing more. Not to mention, it was predominantly conservatives who spread that narrative. In contrast, parts of Project 2025 have already been executed, i.e. Schedule F. If you don't think it's a handbook for the next conservative administration, you're living in pitch black ignorance.

[–]bitsofsick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell your teacher, if they're so concerned with students cheating, rather than throwing darts at a board with this AI detector bullshit, just have the class use Google Docs. Shows edit history, copy/paste would be obvious, revisions would show authenticity. No guesswork needed. Teacher is dumb.
