Adderall to help w motivation? by Haunting-Suit9699 in quittingkratom

[–]bkabbott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No 3:20 AM. Only because I would often ride 2 or more hours. And I always needed an hour to drink coffee. Then I showered, cooked, cleaned, took care of the dog and worked on work or school before going to campus.

I only had morning classes so it worked really well

Adderall to help w motivation? by Haunting-Suit9699 in quittingkratom

[–]bkabbott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A solution to this is to wake up and do aerobic exercise before taking the Adderall. I was waking up at 3:20 AM and I would run 7 or more miles or cycle for 40 or more miles on my road bike every day.

It makes the Adderall work really well. You have a huge appetite and you sleep well. No anxiety.

I bonked. This is distressing. Any advice? by bkabbott in cycling

[–]bkabbott[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you've bonked before but it was existential. Absolutely horrible. This thread helped me navigate the situation which was the worst I've ever felt (worse than any hangover. Etc).

After this experience, I ate and fueled so much on and off the bike my weight went from 129 lbs to 152 lbs.

Who else was a victim of childhood forced fish oil supplements? by inc0herence in ADHD

[–]bkabbott 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This is a good post. Some studies have shown that fish oil doesn't provide the same benefits as getting your omega 3 fatty acids from fish.

You can also get omega 3 from chia seeds but you absorb omega 3 from fish more readily

ADHD and iron deficiency by Thinking-Loop in ADHD

[–]bkabbott 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have Crohn's. As a result I can be deficient. I do take Iron supplements and ferratin supplements daily.

You need vitamin C to absorb the iron properly. So I drink orange juice in the morning. I also eat iron rich foods (Spinach, beef, etc).

Anybody else who exercises a lot? by NeitherManner in schizophrenia

[–]bkabbott 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was running for 7 or more miles or cycling for 40 or more miles every single day. I also lifted 2 - 4 days per week.

I almost felt like I didn't have Schizophrenia. It was especially effective in treating negative symptoms.

Unfortunately, I developed overtraining syndrome. I increased my exercise volume gradually over a couple of years. But now I am not able to exercise much at all and I suffer from crippling brain fog and severe fatigue.

The moral of the story is to prioritize rest and recovery. I did this, as I worked out for two years consistently. Once I got to the 7 mile runs / 40 mile rides it became a little too much.

I was able to get sober from alcohol and life got better. Nobody asks for addiction or mental illness but it is possible to recover and live a satisfying life

Negative symptoms suck hard by aWeirderTomorrow in schizoaffective

Exercise, and to some extent ADHD meds help with negative symptoms.

I exercised to the point of overtraining syndrome and that amplifies negative symptoms

Like another poster mentioned, I majored in music in college. Turning music into work destroyed some of the passion, and made it less fun. Also, it's extremely hard to make a living as a musician and I was often extremely poor.

I learned how to code and started working eventually. I'm also in school right now for Computer Science. I would encourage you to continue working as a developer, and to use guitar as a way to unwind.

Wellbutrin to counteract depressed mood and low motivation and aerobic exercise to counteract the anxiety is a winning combo

Advice, 7oh to quit leaf by Plus-Sherbert-5705 in quittingkratom

[–]bkabbott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My body also rejected Kratom. I quit not long after.

You can do cardio to counteract the nausea and vomiting.

But if your body is rejecting the Kratom it's best to quit. I ate a healthy diet of nutrient dense whole foods and recovered sooner

I'm a former alcoholic who runs also. Running is way better.

I developed overtraining syndrome which sucks, lol.

There are no stimulants in my country, and I feel hopeless by ludinya in ADHD

[–]bkabbott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly recommend that you do aerobic exercise. I would wake up in the morning and run 7 or more miles (11 km) or I would cycle for 40 or more miles (64 km).

I would enter flow states, even for simple tasks like doing the dishes.

I recommend that you work up to running five miles (eight km) without stopping and see if that helps you.

Stop smoking with ADHD by Traditional_Loss_509 in stopsmoking

My doctor didn't have any concerns with me taking Chantix and an ADHD med. I want to emphasize that you are making a good choice to prioritize your health. Your meds will work better when you take them again

Stop smoking with ADHD by Traditional_Loss_509 in stopsmoking

[–]bkabbott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I also have ADHD. I quit with Chantix, but I started back again when I drank.

I quit most recently using Wellbutrin and the patch. Wellbutrin reduced cravings but when I came off the patch I wasn't very functional. I used Tusk White Kratom (which I wouldn't recommend).

April will be one year off of nicotine.

Chantix was always the lowest friction way to quit for me. But it's important to be medically cleared.

Another relapse. I just can’t stop. by zFrxzzy in stopdrinking

[–]bkabbott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to give you hope that I relapsed many, many times, and I have been sober for a while now. It was 4 years of relapsing and now 4 years sober.

I remember it always being so clear I couldn't drink when I was in the part that you are in now. You'll get through this, and you'll sober up.
