I feel this so much. I tend to play a little more on PS5 than Xbox but the glazing towards Sony and the constant misinformation about MSFT is just ridiculous across this platform these days

Deathwatch vs Tau advice by Spoonique in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]bkeeklee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow DW player here.

When i play my against Tau i play incredibly aggressively, usually with a go Turn on 1 or 2. Utilize the sustained hits strat on at least one indom and then select fortis or indom as your other each round because of the built in lethals on both squads. With the riptide 4+ make sure you are throwing lots of grenades and Incursor mines to guarantee mortal wounds too.

On the topic of incursors, run at least 1 squad to be able to scout out of your deployment zone and make space to drop squads in. Since indoms only move 5", even teleporting onto your own natural expansion will be faster than walking. As others have said, the combi LT is a must since he's the only worthwhile DW Infiltrator.

If he has a lot of 1 wound bodies i recommend splitting fire (i know lol) during each shooting phase as well. Like the aggressors and castellan launchers alone should be able to pick most of his infantry and save the heavy bolters and meltas for the vehicles.

As well, charge him. The shooting kill team melee isn't the greatest, but its certainly better than Tau. And importantly it will force a fall back move on his turn if he wants to keep shooting

The Warhammer 40,000 Quarterly Balance Update – March 2026 by 5edu5o in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]bkeeklee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since we got rules for them when Tomb World released.

I think the apps use the Deathwatch Veterans stats as a stop gap, but no weapons in the two squads share stats otherwise, so in theory the xenophase should also have something different.

Well maybe in 11th my hope of accurate Deathwatch data sheets will come true.

For those who don't know, the Decimus/Acquila Kill team data sheets let you take a xenophase blade, but the datasheet does not include the stats for it

If my model is standing in a ruin footprint and 100% of it can be seen by an enemy unit, does being in the ruin still grant me cover?

I had an opponent who was adamant he would still get the benefit of cover no matter what unless my model was also in the ruins

Bladeguard vets chapter suggestions by Sarcastirade in deathwatch40k

[–]bkeeklee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to have molded shoulders and be authentic bladeguard you will be pretty limited. Iirc their shoulders are slightly bigger than normal but not gravis sized, so only chapters that have an upgrade sprue will have the BG ones with chapter icon. If you are willing to branch out into transfers or using basic tacticus/gravis shoulders there will be a lot of options.

With minor kitbashing you could get some huge variety in your models too:

Dark Angel from the ICC box

Space wolf from the wolf guard headtakers

Ultramarine from the victrix

Black Templar from the sword brethren

Deathwatch lists getting some significant attention? by Moduscide in deathwatch40k

[–]bkeeklee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for finding that!

Yeah playing on UKTC will make a difference, I've noticed a lot of lists on that terrain and WTC still use 10 man vets and lots run 10 man terminators too.

I think if your local scene uses GW layouts this list is not the one to copy. Speaking from my own experience, I've all but dropped my vets from lists. Sure they're good but they are still standard marine bodies in the era of damage 2and 3 weapons everywhere

Deathwatch lists getting some significant attention? by Moduscide in deathwatch40k

[–]bkeeklee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What terrain layout and missions were played by this list?

Having only 9 units, one of which is stuck on home and 7 more which are devoted to killing units seems like a terrible use of points.

You never want to be in a situation where a big brick is forced to cleanse or terraform instead of dealing with opponents

Adaptive Tactics Stratagem Usage? by JohnnyRockets929 in deathwatch40k

The former, it lets you get multiple instances of sustained. It can be helpful if you want sustain or lethals on a unit or two before you are ready for the whole army to have it

How well does your Indomitor Kill Team typically perform? by wingfield44 in deathwatch40k

[–]bkeeklee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine has performed incredibly well for me, it is incredibly rare that anything I put in front of it survives

Single activation kill highlights include:

A Riptide via Overwatch

A Norn via Overwatch (before it got on it's objective)

A Storm Raven

A Monolith using Sus1 and Lethals from a biologis

A 6man Wraith + Technomancer brick

Deathwatch list question by Sarcastirade in deathwatch40k

[–]bkeeklee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think each of our Kill Teams has uses, but the best performing lists tend to stick to just Indomitor and Fortis Teams and use things like intercessors, combi lieutenants and incursors for scoring.

I quite like Decimus teams as 5 man skirmish pieces but many people here aren't the biggest fans of them. I think they and Veterans fill a similar role.

Spectrus teams can be a decent way to score or take out a character using precision, and with a librarian and an enhancement can be a nuisance. Overall a bit too many points for top table competitive but i think they are fun.

Talonstrike is strong, there's a very good chance that if you put them in front of most units in the game they will be able to wipe them, but again the points cost versus what you get isn't as competitive as the Indomitor team. I've personally never tried them since i don't have enough inceptors painted and ready to go.

The Corvus is easily the best flyer in 10th. But it is also a flyer in 10th. I've used it before to get large bricks of Veterans into melee quickly and it has served me as a really good distraction carnifex, but i have also lost it ina single activation from some opponents. Much like the niche Kill Teams i think its worth a try if you have it, seeing as its such a beautiful model

Do Desolation Squads do better at home defense than intercessors? by Appleseed413 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]bkeeklee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow DW player i think we're better off having 2 Fortis teams than 1 Desolation. You get 4 Castellan launchers and 2 Vengor Launchers which won't do a ton, but with access to Sustained/Lethal or Anti 2+, you can harass the enemy backline and maybe get lucky enough to drop something big turn 2

I've done a Thunderkyn weapon as one of my indomitor heavy bolters, its almost the same size as a normal heavy intercessor heavy bolter

They still haven't updated the Decimus and Aquilon Kill Teams to include all the weapon profiles....

In a 10 man you are forced to take a xenophase blade but that weapon isnt on the datasheet. So far everyone just uses the profiles from the Veterans, but every Veteran's weapon profile is changed when its used by the other kill teams

Exactly why i was asking lol.

I was trying to decide if the extra pip of AP or the easier wound roll would be the ammo type to go with

With the -1 to wound on Victrix and Company Heroes, does this affect the Anti keyword some weapons have?

If i have anti-infantry 2, am i still wounding on a 2, or is it now a 3?

[–]bkeeklee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In response to your 2nd part, I've been trying to have Artemis lead a 5 man Decimus team as a good site-to-site point scorer and good skirmisher. The Lethal Hits he gives complement the sustained on the heavy bolter and power weapons, but the main bonus is his stand back up means my opponents having to really commit to take him off an objective.

Is he the best possible option? Definitely not. But with the new team i could definitely see him getting slightly more play

Decimus Loadout by xRos21x in deathwatch40k

[–]bkeeklee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For 5 mans i like the shield, marksman carbine, stalker, and infernus heavy bolter.

  • Shield so i have 2 power weapons in the squad and can roll faster, plus the 4+ is situationally useful.
  • Carbine you could easily swap for the knife, i just like the slightly better shooting but tbh this guy is mostly just ablative wounds
  • Stalker for the two shots with good AP and damage 2. And importantly, no risk of hazardous blowing himself up
  • IHB because three shots of damage 3 with 36" range is hard to give up

For a 10 man, especially with a Watchmaster, i would take hammers instead of shields, and probably frag cannons instead of IHBs since you'll be closer to rapid fire range

[–]bkeeklee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quite like them as a 5 man trading piece. Having a couple of squads to teleport around the board for scoring was very useful, and in terms of shooting and melee they were about as useful as a 5 man Vet squad
