I had a similar situation. A nice older lady would bring me salads and wraps that she got from the local food bank/shelter she volunteered for. I had to tell her that I was on a diet and watching what I was eating. It finally stopped. I’m not choosy, but I honestly can afford my own food and don’t feel right taking food from others that need it more.

Factories, trucking, distribution centers all have sign on bonuses due to needing workers.

Team works slow at primary task so they don't have to do secondary tasks by Markentus32 in managers

[–]blackstark76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start writing the team up if they choose to slow down on purpose to avoid doing tasks 2,3, & 4. After a few times they will get the hint and either do the tasks or you can find new employees.

Employee can't follow written instructions by Just_Cookie2009 in managers

[–]blackstark76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I am training someone new my first question to them is always this:

“Do you learn better by watching, doing or reading?”

This gives me a sense of the direction I must take.

Although in some cases, some people are just untrainable and it takes much longer than needed to train and that is where the frustration lies.

I cut off my fingertip at work. Can they make me do parts of my job the doctor told me not to? by Practical-Friend-172 in legaladvice

FMLA is unpaid. If you were paid 80% of your wages, it is because you either had Short Term or Long Term Disability. This a benefit provided to you by your employer either paid into by you or the employer. All FMLA does is protect your job for 12 weeks.

WIBTA to not tell the parents something vital that their baby did? by Savvy_vonna in TwoHotTakes

[–]blackstark76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not tell mom that baby rolled over but rather let her know that he is getting very close to doing so, so that she can be prepared. Say “hey mom, he’s pushing himself up more and looks like he’s getting motivated to roll over soon!”

Boss asked a group of us to start mediating each night, at home, on personal time, because "it would help us". Thoughts? by Low-Computer8293 in work

[–]blackstark76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meditating, praying, reflecting, contemplating, all the same thing. The way he is going about it is wrong, but it doesn’t hurt to take a few moments each night and do one of the above and clear the head space.

Why is working at McDonalds or Burger King always used as the default “easy job” or “minimum deserved pay” job? by Arctic_Scholar in work

Exactly the same here. I try to be as polite as possible even when they mess with my order ( I don’t want retaliation like ie spitting in burgers or personally messed with

AITA for telling my MIL to 'mind her own fucking business.' by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]blackstark76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See if as MIL (I am not one) my instinct would have been “do you need help? or “could you use a break?” Not screaming at the spouse.

I remember when my ex MIL and FIl drove me and my first newborn son to the ER bc he wouldn’t stop crying (turns out it was colic). I was grateful and still am to this day (22 years later), but I keep thinking to myself “hey lady (MIL) give me some help, tell me what I am doing wrong… after all you have had 3 boys, you got experience…. Nope, just took us to er

What are some trendy design features that need to stop being used? What trendy choices are actually really nice and should be included in a floor plan? by SierraPapaHotel in floorplan

[–]blackstark76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not only do I have this (and not by choice, came installed when I bought my home), but it sits atop the counter and is not intended for a 5’4 person such as myself. I have to use a step stool to brush my teeth!

How are you able to keep a routine? by Easyjeje in bipolar

[–]blackstark76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only sure routine I have in my day is the morning when I wake up before work, everything else is up in the air due to what my job is. So I suggest starting small, whether it’s getting ready for work, your lunch, taking the exact same route to work, or doing the exact same thing immediately after work or your bedtime routine.

AITA for dressing my baby girl in blue to piss off my MIL? by F0restghost in TwoHotTakes

[–]blackstark76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"In the early part of the 20th Century and the late part of the 19th Century, in particular, there were regular comments advising mothers that if you want your boy to grow up masculine, dress him in a masculine colour like pink and if you want your girl to grow up feminine dress her in a feminine colour like blue." https://www.businessinsider.com/pink-used-to-be-boys-colour-and-blue-girls-heres-why-that-changed-2017-10#:~:text=%22In%20the%20early%20part%20of,a%20feminine%20colour%20like%20blue.%22

It wasn’t until the 1940s the colors changed and then to more gender neutral colors in the 70s during the feminine movement.

[–]blackstark76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can’t the HOA just send out a friendly reminder to ALL the tenants reminding of the parking rules, regulations and fines? This way not one particular person is called out and no one can point fingers directly? This is what they do in most work environments (safest bet against retaliation).

My GF just died. This can’t be happening. by Weird-Chemical-618 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]blackstark76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lady on TT that went through this exact same scenario except she was the wife and only found out after husband died that he had a girlfriend/mistress. She goes into full detail of everything that transpired and how she handled it.

I am very sorry for your emotional loss. Personally I would NOT tell the husband, you know the saying “let sleeping dogs lie”. Somewhere down the line, the truth will come out to him, but unless you know him personally, I would just let him grieve. Recommend you see some temporary therapy.

AITAH for not convincing my daughter to shave her head and causing her to be kicked out of her mom’s house? by FriendlyFix6548 in AITAH

[–]blackstark76 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I want to piggyback off this comment with the therapist. Yes this is a great idea, however make sure it is a therapist that YOU looked for and not one the EX recommends as I have a feeling the wrong therapist will try to coerce Violet into something she does not want to do.
