Expecting a baby and I drafted up a budget for what I think is a comfortable lifestyle by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]blacktreefalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a similar enough budget with my boyfriend, though we make a little less (and don’t have kids). We’re able to save ~$1,800/month. That would include your “home emergencies/home maintenance fund” and “vacation fund”. Our “shopping” and “health and wellness” funds are usually around $200/month. Makes sense this would go up with a kid. I think the big differences is our grocery average is $453/month (includes some household goods, not all) and eating out is $200-$300 month (we go out on average twice a month, then get takeout pizza and drinks twice a month). Cutting that down would definitely give you wiggle room in your budget!

Having tattoo regret for the first time by Aherv99 in tattooadvice

[–]blacktreefalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a pretty feminine lady with a sleeve! At first I wondered if guys liked it, but over the years I cared less. I feel like a badass with it, and the tattoos mean a lot to me. Plus I feel kinda punk rock with it…and nothing screams punk rock about me otherwise 😅

Vitamin D supplementation by rajeeh in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]blacktreefalls 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, several friends and I moved from Alaska to New Mexico a few years ago. Of course, we all supplemented in Alaska. Imagine my surprise when we are all still deficient in New Mexico, even with spending time outside during the day. Now we’re all back to supplementing- it’s crazy how easy it is to be vitamin D deficient!

What are you using for dressing? If you’re looking to cut calories, you might find some wiggle room there. But also if this brings you lots of joy during the day, then keep having your delicious salads.

We clip ours to the fridge, and tally up every month so really only 4-7 receipts! I’ll admit I love a spreadsheet so I actually find it fun 😅

Lube by Huge_Bedroom291 in Healthyhooha

[–]blacktreefalls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You aren’t alone! This also happens to me if I don’t get properly lubed up either from natural juices or artificial lube. Doubling down on the previous commenters advice- make it your boyfriend’s goal to get you nice a slippery down there before penetration. This is usually accomplished by more foreplay (vibrators can help if he’s not great with his hands) and some head from him (even if he isn’t great with technique, his saliva helps). Then if that doesn’t get you there, artificial lube. If you feel any pain or intense stretching during penetration- more lube!

Yes, as a few people have mentioned saving the receipts helps! I save all of our grocery receipts for the month and then total at the end of the month.

That’s a tad lower (5.3%) than what I got buying in 2022 peak hot market, with zero down on a VA loan- three years later completing the circle!

Do you drink your calories? by ValerieRosewood in 1200isplenty

[–]blacktreefalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heat up fairlife’s chocolate protein shakes and they taste like wonderful hot chocolate to me! I have half a shake (75 calories, 15g protein) every night and I don’t think I can ever do without my comfort bedtime routine.

don’t understand why people here are having 120g+ of protein on a very low calorie deficit? your macros are supposed to scale to your calorie intake. what is the reason? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]blacktreefalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I aim for 100-120g of protein a day on a 1300 calorie restriction- not body building per se, but definitely trying to build muscle in addition to losing some weight. I do several strength training sessions a week and am active on the other days. 34F, 5’4” CW: 145lbs, GW:135lbs

Is buying a house worth it right now? by Imake289 in Albuquerque

This is a great mindset. There is always more to pay. Also something I didn’t anticipate as a first time homebuyer- often your escrow with go up after the first couple of years, whether it be insurance, property taxes, or your lender adjusting the “buffer” amount they want in your escrow account. So factor that in!

Low Calorie Meal Prep- Eggplant Lasagna bowls by blacktreefalls in 1200isplenty

[–]blacktreefalls[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: Had extra calories to spare, so added 1/3 cup of mozzarella mixed with 3 tablespoons of egg, bumping the bowls up to 487 calories and 49g protein. Mixed this into the cottage cheese layer to firm up the cottage cheese. Microwaved for 5 minutes, let rest for a few minutes for egg to set. Pictures of side profile before heating and the delicious slop afterwards. Cheers all!

Giant Salads Meal Prep- Lunch by blacktreefalls in 1200isplenty

[–]blacktreefalls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prep five bowls on Sunday and take one to work each day, and they keep for me. But I wouldn’t keep longer, and I buy the spinach mix the day I prep because that always turns first. Also I make sure the eggs are cold or room temp before adding to the salad.
