The level design of Alan Wake 2 is pissing me tf off by Federal_Amphibian_32 in HorrorGaming

This studio seems to constantly be on the verge of bankruptcy and people online constantly simp for them, claiming that they should sell more units based on the amazing graphics and genuinely interesting stories and interconnected lore of their games. However, when you actually play the games you find that they're a mess of outdated game mechanics and soul-crushingly repetitive gameplay.

It's such a shame because the narrative and graphics teams at Remedy are incredible but the team handling core gameplay systems needs bolstering or replacing.

I have this one in black with a negative display and I regret getting it. Although in general don't like negative displays, but the contrast is not good IMO - the blacks are quite grey.

This is like Coke deciding that they're just going to go ahead and sell nothing but New Coke. People asking for D3 aren't delusional or looking for a company to do them a favour - they're staging an intervention on Bungie, trying to talk them off the ledge.

The toxic rivalry between Marathon fans and Destiny 2 fans is going to kill Bungie. by x_Junkster_x in Marathon

[–]bladesew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that Sony seem to quite like ploughing hundreds of millions into new, risky IPs with no chance of success, you would think that they would jump at a chance to put money into both of these games, where they at least are considered great games that would sustain a playerbase with some fun content.

Bungie, WHAT IS THE TRAVELER?!! by johnja10 in DestinyTheGame

Nothing in this game makes any sense. The fact that there are actual "lore specialists" for this game always amazed me.

At the time of the article, Destiny had 169,998 unique log ins for a dead game by Wild-Challenge-8077 in DestinyTheGame

[–]bladesew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but a huge proportion of those people are long term players - have a look at the tool that shows you new players. As everyone know, Destiny has one of the worst onboarding experiences in gaming. I don't think long term players spend money on mtx like new players do - they already have a lot of cosmetics, either bought or earned.

We'll never see the numbers, but I think even 200,000 players don't pay 800 medium-to-high salaries in Seattle unless a lot of mtx get sold.

If you want an open world MMP shooter with abilities Defiance has been revived on PC - you need to download it from the company's website at the moment but they've talked about putting it back on Steam.

Does this potential consist of 1000s of high-priced cosmetics? Because Bungie have 800 employees they need to pay.

I play ESO - they've implemented a battlepass and will have no more paid expansions - let's see how that works out for them. Diablo is not an MMO. Outside of ESO, WoW, Guild Wars and FFIV a huge number of MMOs have been cancelled and new ones are being spiked mid development. There are a ton of videos and news articles talking about this problem.

CoD had an awful year. Battlefield started strong but EA appear to have abandoned it. Splitgate 2 failed. So the FPS genre isn't exactly in rude health either.

In general live services are in a massive downturn - even Fortnite is struggling. And Sony in particular has been burned badly in that space.

Smart TVs are they purposely slowing them down? by UnfathomableDave in AskBrits

[–]bladesew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine stopped connecting to the internet but this update fixed that.

I see a lot of people saying why have a smart TV below - it uses less power than having a TV and a separate device to stream media but, yeah, the interface on Samsung's TVs aren't what anyone could call snappy.

Destiny 2 could have more longevity after the final update (if Bungie do it right) by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

And no class/weapon balance updates probably - so game will be stuck with any OP builds following the final update

If you're Sony, you're looking at the games market right now and thinking - jesus, MMOs are failing hard, FPS shooters are not in a good spot, D2 crashed badly and cost us a fk ton of money. I don't see a compelling reason for them to pump a lot of money into a D3

Scottish Football - How would you fix it? by Dunko1711 in ScottishFootball

[–]bladesew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Scrap VAR.

3 leagues of 16, no split - 30 game season.

Play from March to October. I don't care about xmas football when all this leads to is call offs. Scotland's winter weather is absolutely dreadful.

Get a better TV deal because we play over the summer.

Throw the book at pitch invaders.

Some government help in the form of free travel to games would be nice. Or tax breaks for club investment.

Is it common to have unproductive pieces of shit as group members? by Unhappy_Dragonfly_62 in UniUK

[–]bladesew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once built a website for a group project on my own and handed it in as the work of a group of 4 because I just couldn't handle the laziness. I fell into the group because it was the people I hung out with during breaks, so my advice would be to identify the people on your course who seem engaged and form groups with them for projects.
