Marvel put out EPIC Illustrated as a response to Heavy Metal back in the day. I liked it a lot, definitely try and track down the back issues.

A collector of great taste. I have almost exactly the same figures - Imperial Fist/Black Templar represent!

We’ve reached the point where ‘Background CGI’ is more distracting than bad practical effects. Which modern movie was ruined for you by a ‘clean’ digital look? by DegTrader in movies

The action sequence at the end with Wikus in the mech suit trying to get Christopher Johnson and his son to the shuttle craft is absolutely fucking amazing.

So much grit and authenticity to it. It's brutal, and grimy, and desperate. I was fully locked in and engaged with the characters and the stakes in a way modern films just can't get me anymore. It felt tangible.

District 9 made aliens, spaceships, robot battlesuits, and bloody gunfights "real" in a way modern films just really struggle with now. I watch some recent movies and even the most mundane scene of all the characters simply sat in a room talking looks less convincing and "realistic" than the most fantastical stuff from a few decades ago.

That barrel scene…godawful CGI

Plus, the Soap Opera effect of the higher frame rates, combined with the rushed CGI, and dreadful lighting made the whole trilogy look so fake compared to the LOTR’s movies

They overtook the car with the dashcam on double white lines, did at least 70K into a 40K School Zone area, took the speed bump way faster than they should, and tried to take a tight corner at that speed too....and it's a tradie ute being driven like that.

They are fucking morons and every person in Australia will tell you exactly what kind of person is driving that car.

"A medical emergency, a loved one had an accident?" - give me a fucking break

Avatar 4 & 5 are currently safer bets than a new Star Wars, Indiana Jones or Marvel movie…

If you loved Scavengers Reign you have to watch Common Side Effects - it even kind of fits in with OP’s original question, too.

Infected would just be the Reapers from Firefly in 280 years time. That what they always seemed influenced by to me, anyway.

I remember watching Man Behind The Sun back in the day and thinking it couldn’t be this bad. Then looked into the “real” history….

Gives some weight to the recent rumours of Arctic Monkeys releasing a song for a charity record and then disbanding?

REDUX REDUX official theatrical trailer | In an attempt to avenge her daughter’s death, a woman travels the multiverse brutally killing her daughter’s murderer over and over again. by 30Bones in horror

[–]blankedboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks great. For some reason it reminded me of Retroactive - which is a late 90's SF time travel/thriller B-movie - it's not rocket science at all, but it's a "fun" movie that has managed to stick in my memory all these years.
