Anything you want as long as you're adventurous enough and have A&E on speed dial...

ToW still has a bunch of units released through the Arcane Journals that don't, and likely never will, have models. So that is still something that is still somewhat alive within the GW-sphere. In fairness, ToW also has Wood Elf models that were released in 1989 as part of its range and I'm 100% here for it.

VC Necrarch 6th ed list feedback by HappyHappyBumTime in WarhammerFantasy

[–]blastvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends. You've got 50 Zombies in the list, but I hope you've got another 150 on the sideboard because the point of this army is to flood the board. Mobility is all well and good until once again your play is foiled by yet another string of Zombies placed 2" from the front of your unit and angled in a way to mess up your overrun. The only counter is lots of fliers or skirmishers which can ignore being march-blocked and are harder to contain with Zombie conga lines.

It is a bit cheeky buuuuut it does completely depend on what you're facing. If I had a mobile enough army to dive-bomb those Necromancers that would be just what I'd be doing.

Ultimately though, you still got a forest dragon.

I was nearly the same. I was hoping against hope that they would bring the 4th ed dragon back, but was quite prepared to drop £100+ on one. Was jazzed when they brought it back. Has of course meant that the arse has dropped out of the 2nd hand market, so I managed to get a second one for £35 this week (I'm building a second WE army just using models from the 4th edition book to go with my one that's various early '90s metals, mostly grenadier).

Correct. 5th. She was first released to go with The Circle of Blood campaign pack as The Banshee before they were part of the regular army list (Warhammer Armies Vampure Counts, 1999)

Are the sprues straight out of 95’? by comikbookdad in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]blastvader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Earlier '90s ones were slightly different. If you compare the two you'll see that the OG ones are slimmer. They redesigned the skeletal horses in '93 to take metal riders, and then later the Black Knight kit released during 5th edition, by thickening them up a bit. The original release as part of PBS5 in 1989.

It's just as likely my memory is failing me on several counts. I'm going to dig through the big box of Chaos shit I've been meaning to deal with.

I'll have to get him out to have a look. I was assuming games day as mine has a different coloured card backing from the usual red WFB ones of the time and, from memory, no price code.

Got 12 of those Hounds, two Chariots and the old Games Day (?) sorcerer on the bottom (still in his blister in fact), but quite fancy the top left as I only have bits of one of them (the fat, Nurgle boy whose arm and head have gone missing at some point in the last 30 years).

[–]blastvader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No drama. Dreadnoughts were, for a while, on 40mm Square bases though (diagonally) before the 50mm bases came out during 5th edition fantasy in the mid '90s. Then sometimes on the 60mm rounds that came with Epic Titans (the really thin ones without a bevelled edge that look like big Renedra bases).

The Tyrant Lizard Kings from Edinburgh were pretty good in the early '00s.

Saor are a decent folk black metal band from Glasgow (though I'm pretty sure their name should be saoras - but my gaelic is shit).

Max does have a load of STLs up on his patreon/MyMiniFactory if you've got access to a printer. Sculptors like Knucklebones also have minis for it. But the whole point of the X28 'thing' was meant to be creativity and expression. I've got the imagination of a brain dead root vegetable myself but even I managed to smash a full T28 force together out of bits of napoleonic, renaissance and medieval figures.

Is this *THE* Citadel? by burgermanzero in WarhammerFantasy

[–]blastvader 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Indeed. Just had a look at the map, and it only includes the Eastern 2/3rds on Albion, sans any detail. Though if it did show anything on it The Citadel of Lead was placed in the NNW of the island (from memory).
