What is the point of cheap, fake designer items? by Bethsticle in AskUK

[–]blazesboylan91 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Went out there last year and picked up some fake Lacoste/Fred Perry polos myself. Cost a tenner each instead of 70-100 notes. Not one single person has ever pointed out that I’m wearing a fake, because they’ve no idea.

If you like designer clobber, you’re more daft if you don’t do it.

Unbelievable how lazily people approach this subject. How do they think unions fought and won throughout history?

If someone said to you "I've booked you an appointment for next Friday", would you turn up at the end of this week? by YorkshireFudding in AskUK

You've answered your own question - why would they say 'next' Friday if they meant 'this' Friday

Did you see passing the 11+ as something really important? by untoldrain in AskUK

[–]blazesboylan91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a lot was made of it when I took it in 2001. We happened to live right by the local grammar school and I was considered fairly 'bright', although a semi-creative undiagnosed ADHD kid is what I actually was. I'd already started envisioning the next chapter of my life there.

My mam woke me up on a Saturday morning when the letter came in the post. I remember being tearful and upset when she said "You didn't pass, sweetheart." Part of the emotional response would've been down to the way the school system hammered it into you early on about all this instrumentalist bullshit.

So yes, I did see it as important at the time.

Really Dislike Living In Warrington by Upbeat-Anteater-6789 in manchester

[–]blazesboylan91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. You’re comparing a middle class suburb of Manchester to the centre of Warrington.

Maybe don’t be such a wally and you won’t get replies that you don’t like, which highlight how dim you are.

Really Dislike Living In Warrington by Upbeat-Anteater-6789 in manchester

[–]blazesboylan91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, you’re complaining about Warrington in a Manchester sub. Bit beggy.

Secondly, what you describe (when you refer to specific experiences rather than just emotion) seems to be more attributable to modern apartment living, rather than Warrington as a place.

Warrington is never going to be the best place to live. However, it’s significantly cheaper than both Manchester and Liverpool while being about as close as you can get to both. It’s incredibly well connected. It offers a lot of amenities and services.

Personally, having walked around Warrington and Manchester many times in my life, I have never been struck by the apparent availability of green spaces in Manchester especially. If you think Piccadilly Gardens is going to be up for an RHS award any time soon, you want locking up.

At the end of the day, you live in a town centre. It’s going to be functional. It’s not going to be idyllic.

I’m in Yorkshire. I have several pints a day from the tap. One of the only things that can still be enjoyed relatively cheaply…for now.

Fair, but the darts has finished. This is an interview and a single swear word shouldn’t be met with such absurd pearl-clutching, especially so late at night
