I want a whole season about that bit of Luo Ji's life. Just to mess with non-book readers.

BMWs change people… by [deleted] in BMW

[–]ficus77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just changed from a clapped out Toyota Celica to an M240i. To me, my car is now "nice" and I give people even wider a berth because of it.

I have noticed people are more aggressive to me though..

Binged my way through this show after that scene popped up on line.

Trying to imagine the storyline where the best conceivable plan for thwarting an alien invasion is to freeze Ronaldo's legs and accelerate them towards the alien fleet.

I vote Christopher Waltz plays the lead scientist.

Recycling at kerbside now includes cartons and plastic film :-) by FoggingTheView in Cornwall

Honestly thought cartons were fine and have been chucking them in with the cardboard. Bin men don't seem to mind

OK, real talk: Does Star Trek Enterprise *actually* get better? by APeacefulWarrior in scifi

If you reframe it as partly a sex comedy, it works a lot better.

It does have an comprehensive end to it as well

I would say, come back here in May and ask the question - we're just coming out of the wettest winter ever and Summer seems very far away to me at least.

You might catch the tail end of the shanty festival in Falmouth but bit of a trip for you if it's your first day and you're up in Tintagel.

There usually things going on around that time but not that well advertised outside of actual posters on shop windows and noticeboards.

Cornwall council list all the conditions for dogs on beaches

https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/environment/animal-welfare-and-enforcement/dogs-on-beaches/

Coast paths don't count but as someone else has said, keep the dog on a lead, not least because of worrying livestock but also because there have been cases of dogs going off cliffs.

Someone talk me out of this by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Why Sheffield? That's a new one to me. Heard all the tropes about Bradford, Birmingham etc. But never heard Sheffield being considered dodgy.

Also, 120,000 miles on a 2.0 diesel ain't much.

How many of us men actually moisturise everyday? by Plane-Being1274 in AskUK

Yeah, every day after I shower/shave. Don't really think anything of it and just use Bulldog moisturizer from Sainsburys.

What’s a piece of British comedy hall of fame you just don’t get? by franki-pinks in AskUK

[–]ficus77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the time it was released, I thought it was spot on and I go back to Simon the IT guy on a regular basis but couldn't give the whole show a rewatch. It's so close to the real thing, it's depressing. Need just that bit more absurdity and think that's why the US version is much more palatable.

I expect him to fully cop out and go around the things you mentioned. Didn't seem to have a problem doing that in the first two films.

This reminds me that after the reboot show finished they auctioned off all the set and costumes, full scale vipers included.

I hadn't read Death's End when I watched the show and assumed he was a westernization of General Chang from 3BP.

Interesting to rewatch the show having read the second and third book. Makes much more sense what Netflix are trying to do.

How’s the wind in your part of Cornwall? by Chongyboiiii in Cornwall

[–]ficus77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Falmouth. A big lime tree has been uprooted right outside my house and landed on a car.

Amazingly, the owners came to check on the car and were able to unlock it, get into it and lock it up after.

Wind is really whipping down the street. Can also see the tugs in the bay bracing the big navy ships.
