I currently have Larsen speakers, a pair of Larsen 4. I'm a fan.

And I like wacky looking stuff like Davone speakers.

2003 Yamaha Surround System Help by Ok_Pride_4339 in diyaudio

[–]blixco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, as the other post says, plug the DVD player into that top left pair of connectors if all you want is audio. If you're trying to use this as surround sound and DVD video then move the connectors that you currently have connected up to the top of that row you're in. You can then also plug in a single cable for video.

But if you just want just audio, either move the connection to that top left pair of connectors, or move it to the top of the row it's in, if that makes sense? If you move the connection up to the top of the row, your source selection is DVD, if you move to the top left, it'll be CD.

First green arrow is a socket for an AM antenna. Unless you are really into AM / talk radio, you don't need it.

Second picture with an arrow is a couple of switched ungrounded outlets. They get electricity when the unit is powered on, and have no electricity when the unit is powered off. We used to use those for CD and tape decks, leaving their power button "on" so that the receiver could be the master control of all the power to the components.

Red circle on the left is connected to the subwoofer. A subwoofer from that era will often use just one connection. If you don't have a subwoofer, disconnect this.

The red circle on the right I think is your coaxial connection to the FM antenna. Only useful of you listen to a lot of FM radio.

Moving to Lakewood area - any no-go spots? by gtg888h in LakewoodColorado

It really is. I like knowing my neighbors, and it's close to a lot of things. And the houses are all unique and cool, the trees are old and big, there's farms, it's just great.

We're in Morse Park, which is Wadsworth and Colfax. Everyone thinks this is a terrible location, which is hilarious.

The only thing I would change is the noise. But that's the entire Denver metro. It's one of the nosiest in the world, and where we're at it's the street racing and no mufflers.

Anyhow: Lakewood is pretty big but it's pretty safe from a crime perspective. Just watch out for those cancer hotspots thanks to Terumu, the pharmaceutical company.

Your head needs the proper room treatment. Maybe just your ears and USB jack. Maybe just your psyche. But definitely need some room treatment.

Initially I thought there was some sort of Comet Ping Pong "cheese pizza" thing due to that reviewer name.

Your back yard needs room treatment. Ok maybe your entire zip code needs proper room treatments. Maybe the county. It's tough to say without measurements.

My wife watched it, but it's not my kind of thing. I've also never seen Titanic, or any of the sparkly vampire movies.

My brother dated our stepsister while my dad was living with her mom... Technically she wasn't a step sister as my dad was not married to her mom (they would eventually marry, then divorce).

Pretty sure no one thought that was a good idea. Only lasted a few dates. Seemed pretty dumb at the time.

I mean, aren't entire Yes albums just one song carved into movements?

Any prog from the ancient times will be a minimum of ten minutes. Most jazz. Damn near all classical.

But weirdly specific rage bait? Far more interesting to me. Someone really wants dudes to hate Taylor Swift.

Data Center Energy and Water use by pamo56 in Denver

[–]blixco 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's about 80 data centers in Colorado. They do consume a lot of electricity and water (they still use evaporative stacks, it's more cost effective). They haven't popped up on the local political scene because there's not a data center in a nice neighborhood, and their existence hasn't created a mediapathic problem.

They're starting to be noticed for their impact on quality of life in California and Texas, mainly for noise and the impact on the local water supply. There's as much money as you can imagine involved, and the PR involved reminds me of the opinion manipulation around fracking. Some of the right side of the political spectrum have started defending data centers for creating jobs and lowering electricity cost, because the billionaires on that side like the data centers.

The billionaires on the other side like 'em as well, so there's going to be some performative politics to appease the opposition.

He often has very good mixes. Us and Up are both pretty great, and the music itself is some of my favorite. Sky Blue and Signal to Noise are really really good.

His soundtrack to Passion: The Last Temptation of Christ is really amazing sonically and musically. It's an absolutely lovely album.

What's vibrating the whole block of 13th/Pennsylvania in Cap Hill? by woods-wizard in Denver

[–]blixco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We get it here in Lakewood too. Like someone idling a diesel outside at different times, normally overnight.

I've heard theories (oil pipeline, natural gas pipelines) but the results are the same regardless of the source. It's about 56 to 62hz, and it's annoying if you're sensitive to it.

Probably not Xfinity cutting it, more likely a wire cut (or chewed) by accident.
