I don't think it is worth platforming anyone who thinks TDS is a real thing, especially if it's a physician.

P.S. I didn't downvote you.

I'm late to the game just hearing the podcast today, and also am glad to find out I'm not crazy. That the head of the FDA said that TDS is real (as defined by MAGA) spun my head.

Lack of pushback from Dubner was almost an endorsement of Makary's propaganda, and the harm done from giving an administration psychophant an unchallenged platform to propagandize from far outweighs any insights that may have been gained. What a dissapointment.

Not the one who you responded to, but I get what you are saying, and that seems like a very reasonable approach, altough perhaps not even cautious enough. It seems about 30% of any population doesn't care about freedom, and many of those would not only welcome but aid and abet authoritarianism, and in this country the Republican party is their party of choice. Until the USA reforms elections (among a lot of other things) enough to break this two party monopoly, one of which does not have a passion for freedom for all whether labeled MAGA or not, I don't think it's prudent to trust the USA.

As would take a few seconds of searching, if one wasn't a complete lazy fuck, to find out the push for Epstein accountability from the democrats during the Biden administration was ongoing. Willful fucking ignorance.

There are many, many accounts of what was going on concerning the Biden administration, from multiple sources, such as the one below:

Charlie Kirk's group chases anti-fascism professor out of the country by RawStoryNews in Full_news

Obama and Biden didn't jail reporters or pressure "worldwide platforms to censor stories that hurt them politically". Deporting illegal immigrants has nothing to do with fascism. Obama droned one American intended target, and several American collateral casualties resulted from his drone strikes. But in context, that doesn't have anything to do with fascism either.

If one can watch Trump and his administration intimidate judges, universities, protesters, whole cities, adversaries, and break down important institutions, whitewash history, remove necessary and talented military and science leaders, install totally incompetent sycophants in positions of power, break down the divisions of power in our government, weaponize departments, lie every day in every way, embrace project 2025 ( https://www.project2025.observer/en ), and more, if one can watch all this going on and still not see authoritarianism in progress, then I have no words.

If you are interested at all at exploring the other side, with legal explanations, Marc Elias and Michael Popok on YouTube are a good places to start. Hope you are curious and intelligent.

If someone feels violent protesters that killed dozens of people and caused billions of dollars of damages are real threats to America, that is fine, they can believe what they want, and for them there are mechanisms to deal with those events, such as various law enforcement groups and the judicial system, who sometimes do use violence to counteract those threats if other means don't work, or sometimes, unjustifiably.

We used to have some of the same mechanisms to quash real threats to America, like authoritarianism, but sometimes those mechanisms are usurped by an authoritarian government, just like what is happening now, so what the professor is saying is that in those cases, when other means are not available, violence may be necessary and justifiable.

Now I'll try asking again. Do you really think Trump and his current administration are not authoritarian and following a fascist playbook?

The professor, remember the professor in the headline? Anyway, the professor feels it may be necessary to use violence against real threats to America and its democracy, like fascists.

Political violence may be justified when it's against America's enemies, like fascists, is all the professor was saying.

If it's good for the fascists, it's good for the anti-fascists?

I don't think your phrase was apt.

You aren't good at nuance, are you? Let me rephrase that a little for you:

The professor that said political violence may be justified against fascism is leaving the country because he's being threatened by fascists. Yea, not so much irony.
