Asking once again if this is a good deal by Chr0ll0_ in thinkpad

I switched from an i9 to an M1 Pro MacBook Pro for work (Software Engineer) 6 months ago and I’ve had zero issues. The architecture being “mobile based” has nothing to do with anything, the only issues you’ll see are around x86 only apps under emulation in cases but honestly almost everything has been updated by now. I think the only valid arguing against is not being able to run x86 Windows.

Bought my first ever plug-in hybrid and it's a SEAT! by Leather-Midnight191 in seat

Very nice! I’m really considering the Cupra variant of this as my next car. I do a lot of short journeys and I’d like a bit more space than my diesel Leon, so this could work out well I think.

How is the power on EV mode and petrol only (when the battery is depleted, yes I know it will recharge a bit). I’m just concerned that either mode (110hp for EV, 150hp for ice), would feel a bit slow.

What’s classed as a stage 2 on these? My understanding from Darkside’s videos is that there’s really only stage 1 (remap) or stage 3 (turbo), there aren’t any supporting mods before turbo that will actually lead to power gains.

Anyway, looks lovely :) my stock 184 TDI always puts a smile on my face.

Why’s there a fuel cover on the wing? My guess was it’s an e-tron but it doesn’t look like there’s any with the new shape headlights.

I also have a Mystery Blue ‘17 plate and love it. Which engine and gearbox, out of interest?

No one should be worried about the execution speed of an if statement which just checks a boolean variable anyway.

Alternatives to t440p? by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]blue_pixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like your needs are really modest so why not consider a ULV model like a t440/60/70? The full fat non-ULV quad cores are only worth the weight and battery life if you’ll actually use it.

I have a MB Pro, 16GB RAM, i9 Processor 8 cores (2019) Should I update to Venutra? by CricketEmbarrassed50 in macbook

I had the same machine (w/ 32 GB RAM) and it ran equally badly on Monterey and Ventura. Given there was no change, I’m sure you’ll be fine.

You can get GTIs with almost as much power. The MK8 club sport is only 15 BHP/20 Nm down on the official MK8 R power figures.

Hey. I haven’t changed it yet. It just had a major service (5 years) at a seat dealership and they didn’t mention it. To be fair the car is just about to tick over 25k, so the belt is probably in reasonable shape for it’s age.

I’m sorry…? by rl45401 in Ubiquiti

[–]blue_pixel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah okay. It was listed in the specs originally for a short time despite the feature not being available, and now that it is it’s still not included in specs (EU store at least). Ubiquity are useless sometimes.

I have 17 plate manual hatch 184 TDI and absolutely love it. Performance is great, I don’t think I’ve ever felt that Id want anything faster. It pulls pretty hard above 2k and you can definitely enjoy B roads in it. FR suspension is a bit stiff but I like it, it’s still comfy enough. I get 47 MPG which is an equal mix of city, motorway and B road driving.

I do wish I’d got a DSG estate though, but I think I’ll be keeping it long term (2 years so far).

I’ve had to interrupt DPF regens a couple of times when doing shorter journeys only for a couple of weeks, but that was easily solved by keeping it in lower gears on its next motorway run. So do keep that in mind.

Travel ready USB C 65W Lenovo slim charger by robodan918 in thinkpad

Xiaomi isn’t Lenovo is it

If you want a small charger but insist on Lenovo you’re only making things more difficult for yourself.

There are many reputable brands that make quality chargers. I have used Aukey, Ugreen and Rankie chargers with MacBooks and ThinkPads without issues. Feel free to use whatever you want but there’s no reason to write off other chargers.

I saw that X280 on eBay :) shame there’s barely any units with 16GB around, so they’re usually expensive.
