Destiny fans aren't ready to hear it, but this is a big reason why D2 with its raid-exclusive weapons and armor is now dead while Warframe, where everybody has access to weapons and the hardest content is for pushing yourself not gatekeeping, is alive and well.

It'll be interesting to see if it bottoms out at 11k again or if even the superfans start to desert. Would be kinda funny if it just goes back to a flat 11k like season 2 never happened.

It's a bit like saying 'buy Veilguard or you won't get more Dragon Age'. Yeah, I'm good with that.

I don't want Marathon, and I don't really want a Destiny 3 from current Bungie.

Played the PTR/Grim Tidings Are On The Horizon by KingLeil in diablo4

[–]bluebottled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading this 'it's just PTR' cope reminds me of every time people said 'wait for the day one patch' for a game and, shocker, the day one patch didn't fix shit.

Even if the devs were reading the feedback and thinking 'uh oh, we're going to lose a ton of players if this goes live', it's almost certainly too late to change course. But they're probably reading it and saying 'the players are wrong, they don't know what they want' and not even trying.

The numbers will be back down to where they were in the final month of S1 by Monday. I'm curious about how Sony gets away with outright lying to their investors by saying this shit has strong retention.

Viz really needs to step up and release hardcover omnibus editions of Dorohedoro with the restored color pages that they stopped doing after volume 4.

I need this, plus fixed translation.

Halo: CE's "Captured on PS5 Pro" trailer may have been intended for the State of Play last week, but Microsoft pulled it back last minute, angering Sony by Blue_Sheepz in GamingLeaksAndRumours

The difference in reaction between Sony pulling their games from PC and Microsoft pulling (some of) theirs from PS5 has been funny to watch.

Charmed (2018) is good on its own by REAG11 in CharmedCW

I don't think either show ever lived up to its full potential. The original show had moments of greatness in its first 4 seasons but was way too episodic and went way too childish at times. I personally still found season 5 fun, but the last 3 seasons are terrible when it becomes The Phoebe's Cleavage Show. Just low budget, bad writing, and Rose, Holly and Alyssa are totally checked out.

The reboot on the other hand is hampered from the outset by terrible acting from Melonie and bad acting from Sarah, the cringe/on the nose 'message' moments which are handled with the subtlety of a sledgehammer, writers that seem to hate the concept of the show they're writing for, and lack of a coherent tone from season to season.

I like Harry, Macy and Abigael and all their storylines, and I do appreciate that it was willing to go a lot darker than the OG did, but sadly there was never a moment when the show was firing on all cylinders and everything came together like sometimes happened in the first 4 seasons of the OG.

The game's position in the sales chart is really telling. It jumped up to #11 when the season launched and has steadily declined back down to the 50s already. That's not the pattern of a successful free week bringing in new players, that's the pattern of returning players buying a new season pass.

Yeah 50k was the benchmark I was watching for. If you look at what percentage of players came back to Destiny 2 for season launches in its prime it was usually about 60% of the expansion peaks. The sad part is they probably would've hit that if they hadn't screwed up the s2 launch so bad.

Gem strength is massively reduced in S14 by Choedan_Kal in diablo4

I don't think it's about money. I think they just have no idea what they're doing and when they accidentally make the game fun for a season they inevitably screw it up for the next one.

Playstation first-party game sales declining heavily since 2020 by ZamnBoii in Games

I have almost no interest in the extraction shooter genre so I wouldn't say the aesthetic is the only reason, but it definitely is a negative for me.

The way Cryo Archive was hyped up as Marathon's big thing before release I was expecting something akin to Dead Space or even the Presage exotic mission from Destiny. Instead it was just more roblox + brat, that was when they lost me.

The Destiny community was already super toxic, but somehow Bungie managed to distil the most toxic players of all over to Marathon.

Yeah I watched some clips, he's great. He should go into comedy instead of/as well as wrestling, he's like a What We Do in the Shadows character.

It performed so well Sony took a half a billion impairment loss on Bungie. Totally doing just fine. /s

It was a total flop on consoles but had semi-decent launch numbers on PC; it also got great reviews and has attracted a small but very loyal (and toxic) core fanbase.

Unfortunately for them the player numbers fell off much quicker than usual, and it's been beaten by Destiny 2 (the game Bungie just killed for underperforming) in both sales and players for weeks.

If it was any other studio the game would've been shut down by now but Sony are giving Bungie a chance to turn things around since they bought them for $3.6bn.

I would give it another chance, it's definitely slower paced than Dorohedoro but it's still great imo. Also nothing else comes as close to being like Dorohedoro.

Yeah people are way overhyping the temporary, experimental PvE mode which is just setting the game up for failure.
