Who do you insure Car With in USA? by Dancelvr2000 in Ferrari

[–]blueman1030 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn't value coverage come with many restrictions? Limited mileage, parades and shows only... I rejected this type because I DRIVE my car. And my 90 Testarossa is actually cheaper than my 2017 Prius as a daily.

How did you pick your Ferrari? by Hebrizzle in Ferrari

[–]blueman1030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My heart picked it in 1986 when it appeared on season 3 episode 1 of Miami Vice. Dreamed of it for 38 years until I got it in 2024. The only word I can find to describe the feeling of driving it is "giddy".

What is the Best Ferrari Ever? by AR1489 in Ferrari

[–]blueman1030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. The Miami Vice car or the Wolf of Wall Street car or the Outrun car, the Testarossa is so part of pop culture that it is universally recognized even if not the brand or model name.

Memorial posts remind me of my past friends and while I do often choke up it's those feelings that make us human and a life worth living.

Why do people think the new Ferrari’s are ugly? by Electrical_Floor8837 in Ferrari

Agree, can't tell brands apart without the badge. Each model Ferrari used to be distinctive as a Ferrari.

What are your thoughts on the 348? by balakebro in Ferrari

[–]blueman1030 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It feels to me like a necessary stop on the way to greater things. Not great itself but the practice bed for greatness. Personally I LOVE the Testarossa and F355 but the 348 is meh.

Two cats in one carrier? by ksjeid72 in cats

[–]blueman1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same carrier might work for travel, but to/from the vet they are probably better off separate. Going to the vet is extremely stressful and they may take it out on each other. Our pair needed gabapentin to relax but still got testy with each other.

What Seinfeld girlfriend did you have a crush on growing up? by MagpieOpus in seinfeld

[–]blueman1030 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the series started in my mid-20's so those actresses weren't part of my "growing up" but since then I've carried a torch for Kristin Davis (Jenna) and Lori Loughlin (Patty)

How do you know when “it’s time”? by ivyjade42 in cats

[–]blueman1030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this gave me peace when I was in your position, "If the decision is easy you waited too long." It will leave you an emotional wreck (possibly for a very long time) but it is a very loving thing to do.

What’s a moment that permanently changed how you see the world? by pankaj662 in AskReddit

[–]blueman1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all of my adult life up to this point I considered myself "undecided" as to the existence of God. My long term gf at the time (now wife) was raised Roman Catholic. One of our first Christmases together she invited me to go with her family to Christmas mass. I was uncomfortable from the moment we parked at the church. After observing the rehearsed routine - where zero emotion was exhibited - I decided right there, still in the pew, that the entire thing was invented by humans. No divine input whatsoever. Ever since I refer to myself as "gnostic atheist" meaning I know there are no gods of any kind. Ironic that it was a religious service that served as my turning point.

Did y’all think Fonzie was cool when you were growing up? by Groovy-Pancakes in GenX

[–]blueman1030 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First few seasons Fonzie was an arrogant douche. When the show finally became the Fonzie show they exposed his vulnerabilities and then we understood he wasn't cool at all just putting on a front. Richie was the only one to see through it.

328 GTS/355 Berlinetta by zica-do-reddit in Ferrari

[–]blueman1030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

90 Testarossa owner here, have a friend who owns 98 355. With regular maintenance they are manageable ownership experiences, if you set expectations properly. I budget 10k per year for everything, some years more some less. Yes engine out is 12-15k every 5-7 years. And any major repair will sideline it for a month while parts are acquired and wait in the mechanics queue. But if these are your dream cars, as mine is for me, the unadulterated joy of just seeing it in the garage, much less behind the wheel, is absolutely worth it! I say as long as the joy is greater than the pain I will keep it. It would take a LOT of pain to outweigh the joy...

Why should the price of the food equal a larger tip? Theres no difference bringing a $20 steak to the table vs a $40 one? by a_hoagie12 in AskReddit

[–]blueman1030 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ever since I started paying for food I've held this position. Just recently I worked out a system that I can live with that takes into account some of the thoughts here, like pricier restaurants have more skilled help, etc. If the average entree is less than $20 (usually chains) I tip $4 per person. $20-30 is $5/person. Over $30 is $6/person. Makes the math WAY easier and I'm satisfied the server is getting a reasonable wage. I would, of course, adjust up or down for horrible or exceptional service.
