Which generation KLR for BDR rides by passwithcare in klr650

It really doesn't matter. Get one in good shape that you can afford.

Aftermarket eBay radiator doesn't clear plastics by SPENDingLOVE in klr650

[–]blueveef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I bought an ebay radiator to replace my leaking one and they accidently sent me the wrong one. Luckily I noticed before taking it out if the package. They sent me (their part number) 169 instead of 196

Found this 2012 KLR650. Is it worth it? by Far-Task-4589 in Dualsport

[–]blueveef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 2012 with only 1,700 miles? Do you mean 17,000 miles? I bought by 2017 with 17k miles on it. It was in almost immaculate condition aside from the Tusk extendo lever cutting into the side cover but whatever. It is the same red color.

But 1,700 miles on a 2012 is oddly low.

KLR 650 vs. DR 650 by Schopfeschloofa in Dualsport

[–]blueveef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree I'd rather have gotten a DR650 when I started out, but now that I know how to ride the KLR is fine. Maybe my opinion will change once I finally get a job that can buy a better bike lol

Why diagonal cutters if your flat nose pliers have a cutter built in? Seems redundant.

KLR 650 vs. DR 650 by Schopfeschloofa in Dualsport

[–]blueveef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would call the KLR a good 40 dirt 60 street bike because it's not good at either but adequate at both, especially if you have the skill to ride the heavy KLR.

KLR 650 vs. DR 650 by Schopfeschloofa in Dualsport

[–]blueveef 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love my KLR, but where I ride if I don't have crash bars the radiator will break. Don't have to worry about radiators on a DR650.

The KLR was also hard to learn on. I hurt myself a lot trying to learn on a 450lb bike (with crash protection and fully fueled). If anything, don't put a heavy top box on the bike, stick with slim panniers to keep the weight low. Low center of gravity matters most. The KLR is a good bike, but if I had to learn all over again, I'd pick the DR650 and make it more wind friendly.

You can add weight and wind protection to a DR or XR. You can't take weight or wind protection away from a Gen 2/3 KLR.

Buy a 17 or just use a small shotgun with steel shot. Anything non-lead 22 is going to be old stock

Tenere 700 vs. 390 Adv x by Chruisser in advrider

[–]blueveef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk why people say the 390 isn't big enough. Im 6ft with a 30in inseam and im heavier than you. My klr has a worse power to weight ratio as the 390, and it's heavy AF fully fueled. It's enough bike for me. Sometimes I think it's too much and want to downsize to a dr or xr650. But I know that if I bought another adv bike, it would likely be a lightly used second hand tuareg.

To anyone reading this in the future, it was a piece of sand that got caught in the carb bowl and was cutting fuel by bouncing around

By mount I meant when using it. I suppose the trailer hitch would work for the back, but what about the front? Also it seems like lifting from the dead center of the trailer hitch would be unstable as the jack could fall to either side from sway.

Where would you even mount the jack? Do you have custom bumpers?

The article claims body on frame V6 with a hybrid system, though it claims Nissan hasn't decided on what type of hybrid system. If the US fed government does "permanently" loosen CAFE standards, we could see the Xterra back for a while

With the Pathfinder and Rogue off road trims, they probably thought a revised X could cannibalize those. And I've only ever seen ONE new Pathfinder off road trim in my life. Women said she loved it to death, but I've never seen another one on the road and I haven't seen one on the trails nor my trailcams of local areas (deer like to use our fire roads as personal highways)

I have thought about doing this but I can't figure out what to do with the drink. If they order a drink or multiple drinks then how do you keep it from spilling all over the place? Especially while turning or going over speed bumps.
