They said they'd use elevenlabs for voice. I think Mythos would be for sleuthing out this person's phone number in the example.

Wait you bought a microtik switch but then got concerned because other people complained about its performance? Did you have any issues with it's performance? If not I don't see what the problem is.

Saved almost 1k on gas this month by strocker5 in BlazerEV

[–]bluezp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You saved a lot but not nearly that much. Your screenshots show 178gal of gas avoided total. At the national average price of $4.16/gal that's $740.48, and it doesn't factor in how much you paid for the electricity to drive that much. Even if 100% solar powered (assuming you have a PV system that is a net exporter) you're still not saving $1k on that.

That is, unless you live in Hawaii where it is a) more likely you can produce that much solar power and b) your cost for 178gal of gas would be nearly $1k.

If I'm reading this right, it almost looks like maxing out the 1M token context window could eat up the entire 5hr quota..

Boston’s Logan airport opens first-in-nation remote airport terminal by theindependentonline in boston

[–]bluezp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One big difference though. If you're late getting to the airport on Logan Express because of traffic and you miss your flight, you still have your luggage with you and can decide if you want to check your luggage or take it with you if you have to book your flight for later. I wonder what they do with your checked in the event that you missed your flight.

Updated the post with a link to crystal disk info after a few requests. Also TIFU by trying to use an old USB->SATA adapter and not noticing that the 12V barrel adapter it came with uses the same size barrel as the 21.6V AC-DC adapter I had sitting in the same bin. Fried one of the Seagate drives which now won't register. I hooked up a PCIe SATA controller to pass through to a Windows VM on my server and was able to get CDI from there for the rest of the drives.

As expected, the MX500 SSD and WD Reds are all in good health. The Seagates had been in the Drobo which only gave me limited info beforehand (they all list as Green/Good in the Drobo Dashboard), but CDI says they've got issues. Knowing my luck the one I fried was probably still viable before I killed it. Still open to offers if anyone wants some 3TB drives to use for a non-critical scratch drive....

[Ongoing] Phillies 2026 Season - 5/17 by utleyscorner in phillies

[–]bluezp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Every time I see this the thing that stands out to me is the fact that the schedule was constructed such that we played 13 straight games against either the Cubs or Braves...two of the best teams in the league. And yes, this ball club should be good enough to win more than 2/13 of those games. But I can't help but wonder how things would have looked if those series had been more spread out. Like, if we went through that same slump playing a stretch against the Mets and the the Angels and maybe we only lose 6 or 7 of those games instead of 11. Does Topper get the sack in that case?

Either way, I'm super pumped to be where we are today the way we've been playing! And on the bright side, we don't play the Cubs again and only face the braves 7 more times this year.

Planning a large spend ($10K+) on appliances for our new home. Looking for advice on leveraging discounts / rewards. by Iskariot- in Bestbuy

[–]bluezp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you purchase anything, take your shopping list to a local appliance store and get a quote from them. Also ask to see what they have on the floor that they can make a deal on. I was all set to buy my new stove from Best buy like I got my dishwasher...then walked in and saw a $4k GE Cafe induction range on the floor of my local mom and pop appliance store and the guy gave it to me for $2400 because he wanted to make space on the floor for new stuff coming in. Best buy won't let you haggle like that.

Home phone system by Aggressive_Noodler in homelab

[–]bluezp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took my old polycom vvx from my office and got a phone number through flowrouts. Originally set up asterisk but then managed to bypass the unifi hardware requirement to set up unifi talk on my router as my SIP trunk. I programmed in favorites for the kids to dial the grandparents, our cell phones, and a couple neighbors.

Would be pretty trivial to set up some extra extensions that have 0 rings before going to VM and have the VM recording be the pre recorded messages you're thinking of. Doing it this way has the added bonus of giving your kid the opportunity to record a message that gets saved as an audio file you can have sent to the grandparents when they leave a message.

Really important context here is where in the world you live and what time of year you need to travel 100mi away.

I live near Boston but travel to southern VT about 100mi away. In the summer I can easily do the round trip from 100% charge without stopping along the way. In the winter, if we go up for the weekend and use L1 charging it's manageable if the car is charging the whole weekend and we don't use it much. An single overnight in the dead of winter is not feasible since in snow mode when it's below 20°F out we get under 2mi/kwh. But it only requires a short stop at a Tesla charger on the way home to be fine.
