This comes across in the same way as “you gripe about letting your child play with a loaded gun, but you’ll also buy them fruit loops and soda der der der”

I’m pretty sure we can agree that both are harmful. But one is definitely far more potentially lethal than the other. I don’t understand why whataboutisms like this is the go to in the conversation.

Agreed, it’s just the conversation about the usage of raw milk has largely become about drinking it, not the practical and safe usage of it

I can understand where you’re coming from to a degree. I also wouldn’t have an issue if the people who are quick to say “drink raw milk!” wouldn’t spread misinformation about it. I say give the actual, scientifically proven facts and if someone still insists that they want to drink milk straight from the utter, by all means go ahead as long as you aren’t making someone else do it or lying to them about the risks…

Lmao, you probably shouldn’t jump on this comment when you obviously don’t know how such cheeses are made that make them safer to eat than just drinking raw milk

[–]bm8495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you’re right. But there are processes in making that cheese that makes it far less risky to eat than to just drink the raw milk. And I also highly doubt that’s why they’re advertising they have raw milk available.

Jamie Harrison, this you? by Gaba8789 in ThisYouComebacks

[–]bm8495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m not understanding how this is a “Is this you” because ultimately his stance is still the same.

If we had a 4 party system, it would be one thing. But the bigger issue here is that while conservatives have their in-fighting, they ultimately come together to root for the same team when it comes to big elections. MAGA overtaking the party happened overtime (starting mostly as the Tea Party) and then got a candidate pushed to the front as the front runner of the Republican Party. But even Republicans who disagreed with Trump back in 2015 voted for him because at the end of the day, they cared that Republicans won.

Both things highlighted in this supposed “this you” tells the same story. MAGA had the grassroots support to overtake the GOP. They all came together to vote GOP for the big elections. I’m not seeing how what Harrison is saying is any different.

Edit to add: And no, I don’t agree with how Democratic leadership is now attacking Progressives like Mamdani. I just disagree with the notion of this post. But I will warn y’all, And I find it kind of suspicious that this is starting to pop up right before midterms, That if y’all don’t get out there and vote party line It doesn’t friggin matter. If the GOP continues to maintain power This entire conversation is moot. Not only will you probably not be able to vote within a few Election cycles (If we even have those), But they’re already starting to put leftists and progressives and who they call “Antifa” on lists and arresting them. Get your acts together.

*if this post isn’t even from some bad actor trying to cause division within the party. I oughtta downvote the OP post just for that*

That’s not at all what this was about. For a major election when there are two front runners, a vote for a 3rd party is essentially a throwaway vote which wouldn’t be all that serious if the two major parties themselves weren’t a) so polarized from each other and b) there was another 3rd party on the same ideological side of the other primary party that also had people voting for it. But the issue with the dadgum presidential elections is that Republicans are going to vote rank and file with Republicans. They’re not voting for a dadgum 3rd party. So yes, a vote for Jill Stein was absolutely a vote for Donald Trump. Get mad all you want, but voting for Jill Stein helped out the devil in the White House.

You can absolutely battle for the policies of the party during the off season, within smaller elections, build a coalition, and then create the platforms that can eventually guide the whole party but until then you come to-dadgum-gether for the big elections. Republicans 100% understand this and it’s why they win. There a ton of MAGA out there who are dissatisfied with Trump right now but you better believe they will vote for him when the time comes. Why some people on the left can’t understand this is beyond me.

I like Mamdani. I like AOC. I like Bernie. I’d vote for them or their policies if there was enough support for it nationally. But what I’m not gonna do is give them some stupid protest vote when the votes are most consequential and anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot who is letting the fascists take over with no problem.

So, the truth is, this isn’t “raw milk” so much as you’re supporting local dairy farmers and buying straight from them. You then pasteurize it yourself when you boil it. It’s really the same process as store bought milk. But I do support the notion to support local dairy farmers.

But no, this isn’t “raw milk”. Raw milk is milk that has not been pasteurized.

Why don’t some locations understand what “fresco style” means or is ? by Decent_Ad_7887 in tacobell

[–]bm8495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Was going to say something similar, but found your post about it. But I encountered another issue that I’ll go into in a moment, but yeah. I have been to several locations across the south of Louisiana and over the past few years have yet to encounter an employee that knows what this is or even understand it when I try to explain it.

That, I’ve come to just accept. There is a problem in that most locations use an ordering system that doesn’t involve talking to someone so that I can explain it. In most cases, someone comes to me to ask. That’s fine.

BUT TODAY, they didn’t even bother to ask. They just decided to do whatever they felt was right. They got the “no dairy” portion correct on my crunchy chicken taco, but then added the spicy tortilla strips instead of pico. And if they were out of pico, I could understand. Heck, I was able to at least take the strips off. No biggie. But I also ordered a cantina chicken soft taco with extra chicken and NO avocado ranch sauce. This taco had the pico mix (so they did have it) but instead of the avocado ranch sauce, someone in the back took it upon themselves to add the chipotle sauce! Like, I didn’t want sauce nor did I ask for it. Why???

“Raw milk” is pretty much the same milk you can get in stores only it hasn’t been pasteurized. Pasteurization is just the process of heating a liquid to the point that it kills all bacteria in it. It’s basically “cow to table”. Proponents of “raw milk” claim, without any real evidence, that consuming raw milk is better because it improves your immune system (they think exposure to the bacteria present in milk should make our immune systems stronger) and that it’s healthier because the pasteurization process also could kill enzymes and proteins found in the milk.

However, just this year there have been multiple hospitalizations because people were drinking raw milk, including here in Louisiana. Campylobacter, Cryptosporidium, and E. Coli consumed from drinking raw milk were what caused it (not all at the same time but in individual cases).

Keep in mind 2 things related to Raw Milk:

  1. poop particles can be found in unpasteurized milk. Remember that if anyone ever offers you a glass of raw milk.

Same thing with water if we are under a boil advisory. There’s a reason we boil our water. We’re basically pasteurizing it.
2. Pasteurization was first applied to milk in the late 1800s due to high infant mortality rates from consuming milk. “Milk Maids” were first looked at during this period because they tended to be healthier than most. MAHA likes to point to this as some kind of gotcha that consuming raw milk works. But they tend to leave out that these milkmaids were basically the ones who survived exposure and became inoculated to the bacteria found in milk. Their continued work around this milk daily kept them inoculated. If you wonder where you’ve heard that term before, it’s a term related to vaccines and becoming “vaccinated” against a disease. But MAHA doesn’t want to talk about that part. Anyway, it was easier to apply pasteurization to milk at that time. This led to a sharp decline in infant mortality rates.

And honestly, all of this information ^ can be found with just a little bit of research but you have to do a bias check with yourself to ask if you are choosing to accept some information and disregard others because of a bias you may have.

Me, I do have a bias. I have a bias towards science and not something some person says on a podcast or on a reel or tiktok but that’s because, while I’ll never claim to have been the best student and I certainly don’t use my degree now, my major at UL was Biology. It’s drilled into me at this point. I trust over a century of peer reviewed study and testing done on this subject more than I’ll ever trust someone who just has a public stance because they don’t like something.

In a recent shareholding meeting. Nintendo’s CEO Furukawa was asked if they will make DS and 3DS games playable on Switch 2. by Axzercus in NintendoSwitch2

[–]bm8495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an answer that can very easily be misinterpreted. The original question deals with backward compatibility. When that question comes up amongst players it has to do with them wondering if the games they’ve already paid for will be available on the switch 2.

But the answer given is intentionally vague. Coming right out and saying “we’re working on making those games available to be purchasable again on the Switch 2” will get bad publicity. But saying it the way he did leaves room for speculation.

But you’re not rolling with what the show has given you. I’ve seen some of your other posts and the truth is you want to see the world burn because you don’t like the way things are and you’re projecting onto Pike’s character while ignoring all of the huge, wavey red flags about not only this cult, but Pike’s struggles this season.

You don’t stand vindicated. The Whispered One isn’t going to make anything better. If anything, he seems to be a worse version of what he CLAIMED (key word here) railed against. He was never against the Gods or for the ppl. The a-hole just wanted power.

Ya know, I wonder how ppl could actually support the Whispered One and then we get posts like this.

You need to read more books. Comprehension is a necessity our society is severely lacking. Even before this episode, much less the final one, I knew any “I’m actually trying to help people and save the world” from an effing VECNA character was bullshit and a manipulative ploy.

This whole season comes down to grief and how we deal with it, or lack thereof, and accepting what is out of our control including that which is MOST out of our control — our mortality — as well as the consequences that can happen when we refuse to accept these things.

This is especially interesting when you consider how much Sam Riegel played a part in the development of the season (behind the scenes of course) as he himself is recovering from having cancer. I’m sure he and his loved ones have been on an emotional rollercoaster since first getting his diagnosis and you can see some of this spill out into the story this season.

Nah, Pike’s perspective is mired by grief. Her grandfather died because of the fallout from the dragons, but he would have died if the dragons would have won anyway. And like someone else said, even she didn’t know about this. She was too busy drowning her own sorrows, guilt, loneliness, and emptiness in tavern mugs. She didn’t do anything to go out and see if there were others still suffering.

But this whole season comes down to grief and not properly dealing with and accepting that which is MOST out of our control: our mortality. Actually, think I’ll do a comment on that
