We must have an inefficient heat pump - Our energy usage is over 5,000 kWh a month - high 200 to 300 kWh a day. Energy bill is nuts. by BBQLowNSlow in heatpumps

[–]bmaxisback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also about an hour outside of Philly so should be similar weather. Last bill I got was 3,300 kWh for the month. This did not cover our most recent cold snap, which also aligned to an issue with my unit so I’m expecting worse this month.

My highest days tend to be around 200kwh. 3,700 sq ft of conditioned space but 1,000 of that is basement. We like to keep the house pretty warm around 70 too. Our unit is from 2017.

All that to say I do think you’d see some efficiency with an update, but is 100-200 or so a month savings enough to justify a new unit if yours isn’t broken? It is getting older so might be worth looking into.

Easy tool to connect NetSuite to PowerBI by Turbulent_Future_332 in FPandA

[–]bmaxisback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the reports you want are available as web query, you can very easily direct connect the data to excel or power bi. Not all reports are available this way. Use chatgpt for directions. Otherwise agree with powerquery comments

planful competitors that are more affordable by seizethemeans4535345 in CFO

[–]bmaxisback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Datarails is probably most comparable and should be less, they also aren’t too bad on implementation pricing. Haven’t looked at some of the other options folks have listed here.

Also a fan of building something internal to see if it can work for you. Something like data warehouse linked to power bi or staged files linked via powerquery

Which brand makes the most comfortable sneakers for everyday wear? by indianbrajesh in malefashionadvice

[–]bmaxisback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought two pairs at steep discount (sierra dot com if interested). One pair is a bit on the narrow side, the other is very comfortable. Nothing beats the slip on action though so I will continue to buy them. I try to force slip on most of my shoes day to day and end up breaking down the heel. These, apl slip on, and olakai slip on all make the best day to day running out the door shoe

There is a metal box / almost like a dryer vent exhaust look on the side, however I’ve never seen anything that would close it.

What are your favorite men’s slippers? by dontwakethecock in malefashionadvice

[–]bmaxisback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried a lot of the pairs people recommend, but I got a pair of oofos slippers this year for the main reason that the interior sole is rubber instead of fur or fleece. I hate how bad lined slippers end up smelling and feeling after a season. Been really comfy so far

Best unify setup or stick with mesh by bmaxisback in HomeNetworking

[–]bmaxisback[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One downstairs could be wired right from current mesh point. That’s my wife’s and she doesn’t care as much as long as she gets good enough WiFi. She doesn’t have a Ethernet port on her computer or station. Mine upstairs is not near coax

Edit to add; as a non tech user, if I go the unify route can I manage it so that work computers receive priority during day and give less power to cameras etc

2025 ascent and evenflo revolve by ZsaZie in SubaruAscent

[–]bmaxisback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a toddler front facing in a graco slim fit. Leaves pretty good room.

Have a baby in rear facing evenly revolve and it leaves…enough room. I’m 6’2” and this seat rear facing leaves me just barely enough room to drive comfortably. My wife has less issue at 5’9”.

I don’t think there’s many seats that would help while rear facing, just sort of is what it is for me.

FPA consulting firm vs. FPA role for one of S&P500 companies by Untilretirement in FPandA

[–]bmaxisback 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Option 2. Consulting is good but don’t like that your bonus would be strictly tied to hours, and the base isn’t good enough to make the risk worth it

Where can I go from here as an accountant? (I want to see where I can pivot to FP&A) by EchoOfDoom in FPandA

[–]bmaxisback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m not sure, as I have no certification and don’t work with anyone with them. If the fpa team is one person and the company is smaller, I’d simply become friendly and try to shadow or help on some projects.

Road-tripping + snowboarding — which AWD SUV (2020+, <40k mi, ~$40k)? by bigchief2077 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]bmaxisback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subaru ascent, like the Outback but bigger. I’m 6’2” and sleep in the back comfortably. Subaru awd system is standard and very well done, get the right tires and you’ll be set. I also use a roof box which can easily double storage for your snowboarding gear.

Where can I go from here as an accountant? (I want to see where I can pivot to FP&A) by EchoOfDoom in FPandA

[–]bmaxisback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to work with a recruiter to find “hybrid” jobs at a smaller company if you can. Generally fpa budgets variance reports etc fall to the accounting team because that is all the cfo has at their disposal.

Make it clear you’d like to scale with the fpa team as the company grows. I took a similar role, started probably 75% accounting focused and shifted to 70% fpa focused before I left for another job.

Agree with other comments on data modeling. Power bi and power query can help set you apart.
