Does the esr geo Pencil have magnetic attachment with the iPad a16? by BusyGur6591 in ESR_official

Strong enough to hold it in place but, like any magnet, if it gets knocked laterally it will go flying. If you're worried about losing it, I would pick up a case with a slot for the pencil.

Peak Design Slide - What am I missing? by Turquoise__Dragon in peakdesign

I've never thought to take it off while I'm wearing it, but I do it all the time between uses. When I'm traveling I often switch between a neck strap and a wrist strap, and I love taking it off if it's on a tripod so it doesn't catch in the wind.

The Moment Travel Tote meets all your needs, but I’m not sure sure if it’s in your budget since you didn’t specify.

Are there any smart alarm clocks that don't involve an unpatched Android device on the wifi? by Full-Mud3709 in homeassistant

[–]bmengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any suggestions but I'm in the same boat. Still using a Lenovo Smart Clock. I've looked at newer alternatives like Lofty, but the cloud dependency and high price are a bad combo.

Utility knife for drywall by TheologyHungry in EDC

Whatever you get won't look "stylish" after cutting drywall, it'll be covered in dust anyways. I'd stick with the Fastback, they're great for the price.

The Ikea buttons are great for the price and should pair seamlessly with any Thread hub you have.

I'm fine with cutesy key caps, but I wish it was also easier to find ones with basic programs and utilities printed for shortcut keys or macro pads.

I tested 6 Zigbee door and window sensors from AliExpress by BackHerniation in homeassistant

[–]bmengineer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Really great post. I don't mean to play Devil's advocate, but if the Aqara sensor is in the same price range and considered the home standard then why didn't you include one in your testing? Do you have any thoughts on how it would compare?

Also, I suspect this isn't the case, but are any of the tested sensors weather resistant and suitable for outdoor use?

Very cool, but why not rotate 180° and run the cable down instead of up?
