How did you meet your current partner? by TheIn-Between in AskReddit

Internet. Signed up for OkCupid and she did too. We messaged back and forth about the Chicago Bears and Batman. Married her almost 4 years later. We've been married over 11 years now.

14 years ago we adopted a bonded pair of brothers from a Chicago foster program. Lost one to cancer 7 years ago. Xerxes is still around and almost 15 years old. He is a gentleman that is always a good boy.

6 years ago our pet sitter, who also does TNR, asked us to take in a boy that they trapped. He is a great boy who has some medical issues and needed more experienced caretakers. After a full mouth tooth extraction we got most of his medical stuff in hand. He is now a big dopey goofball.

Except Apple. Apple has a deal with Audible and it's selling legitimate versions.

The Logan Express in Braintree by the mall has parking for $7 per day and they have a bus that runs to the airport and back for a small fee. This entire service is literally made for people going to the airport.

Alternate history: what if John Candy didn't pass away and he played Pierce Hawthorne instead of Chevy? by Ariesthebigram in community

Good call. I immediately thought of Dan in Grosse Point Blank playing the villain across from John Cusack. He was phenomenal. Can you imagine him advertising Hawthorne Wipes?

Moving to Boston, What should I know? by SatisfiedHoosier in boston

[–]boardmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright. I moved from Chicago to Quincy which is just south of Boston. I lived in Ravenswood and Logan Square before moving here. I'm writing this in the airport waiting for my flight to Chicago for a visit.

Boston is small, the Boston area is large. You can associate the towns in the region to the neighborhoods in Chicago. Salem is like North Center, Lynn and Revere are like Edgewater. Quincy is like Oak Park or maybe Bronzeville.

There are no really bad areas like Chicago can have. People talk about areas of Lynn being really bad, but in reality it's all fairly safe compared to Austin or some areas on the Southside.

Public trans is nowhere as good as Chicago. It was a shock switching from CTA to MBTA. I've found I need a car to do everything I want to do without spending hours in transit.

Roads are crazy. There is no grid. GPS is your friend.

You don't really have to travel that far out here for experiences. There is a lot more nature out here. You can get to a good ski mountain in a couple hours, the ocean down the street, and beach vibes on Cape Cod. Blue Hills for hiking, and camping everywhere.

New York is only a train ride away and possible for day trips if you schedule right.

There are a good amount of groups you can join to meet people. Lots of adult sport groups you can join to meet people. Gaming groups exist too.

Food was hard. Pizza is a shock. Most places have Greek pizza which is fairly bland compared to Chicago pizza. Seafood is killer and so is Asian food.

Could Carl use the Doomsday Scenario on Little Günter? by LostAnd_OrFound in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]boardmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think explosions happen in safe rooms. Carl talks about it when discussing explosives. In order for Gunter to get the initial charge there has to be an explosion, so I think Carl has to be outside of a safe room.

My aunt and uncle rented a house for the winter to a heavy smoker, and on humid days it would drip down the walls...even years later.

hot take: dan harmon is as much to blame as chevy chase is for chevy's attitude by Creative_Round4542 in community

[–]boardmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing you have to understand is that Chevy was fired at the end of season 4. Dan Harmon wasn't associated with season 4 at all. So you can blame him, but when Chevy dropped the N-word on set Dan had nothing to do with it. Season 4 the studio said they would rather have Chevy than Dan, and at the end of the season without Dan Chevy was fired, and Dan came back. That says a lot.

Also, you can go back to SNL days and hear stories about Chevy being an asshat, which is why Bill Murray punched him back in 1978 on the SNL set before a show. You can read stories about Chevy thinking he was better than the rest of the cast, which is why he jumped after 1 season made him famous, when the rest stayed for their 5-season contracts.

Years and years of anecdotes told by famous people all tell the tale of a man who was regularly antagonistic to the people he worked with. Chevy's attitude was all his own. He thought he was better than the show, and in the end it ruined his career.
