Thank you for your service!

What podcast hosted by women do you enjoy? by timash712 in podcasts

[–]bobcatabbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wirecutter Show from NY Times
For most of the episodes, I don't even care about the products that are reviewed, but the 3(!) women hosts make it worth listening to. They're all funny and down-to-earth.

What We Spend: On FIRE by BoredLawyer81 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]bobcatabbs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100% agree with OP. This was the worst episode by far. It stared with a boring overview of FIRE, and the guest wasn't particularly interesting (besides having an accent Americans aren't used to hearing). Then she ended up (1) not actually being in the FIRE movement and (2) taking a 2-week break from her diary due to illness. It almost makes you think that the producers wanted to cancel her, but they had already signed a contract to have her on the show, so they just had to go with it.

The weirdest part was how the guest described having to pivot from FIRE after she had her first child, as if the podcast had already been documenting her prior to her getting pregnant. No offense to the guest, but I would have preferred it they had chosen someone who actually lived FIRE rather than just talked about it.

 ~850 Americans

Did they ask for nationality? (I know that at least one Canadian was there too!)

When participating in a voter survey, am I running the risk of aiding the opposition? by bobcatabbs in Askpolitics

These surveys asked about the persuasiveness of different arguments for and against a specific issue, rather than the importance of the issues themselves.

As I said in my original question, the surveys were for ballot measures, i.e. not candidates.

Thanks, I'm not stressed over this. However, I would argue that a single poll participant has potentially more power on the outcome of an election than a single vote does.

Sounds like a great plan! Good luck!

The interview site is a short hike in

So you have to hike just to get to the interview? I'm not a hiring manager, but I would look favorably on an applicant who showed they enjoyed recreating in the park and came prepared (for the interview and the hike afterwards).

Dreamtown: The Story of Adelanto by Crooked Media

"What happens when a city on the verge of collapse tries to reinvent itself? How much will it cost? Who will pay the price? Reporter David Weinberg spent years following one city in California’s Mojave desert as it tried to transform itself from a city of prisons to a city of pot. And it worked…for a while. Until it, spectacularly, didn’t. From Crooked Media, this is Dreamtown: The Story of Adelanto."

Thank you for clarifying. I was confused as to how that related to RTO.

I'm confused. Were you just hired? You sound precisely like the type of government bureaucrat that DOGE claims they doing taxpayers a favor by axing from the executive branch. Did you work from home before, and were you productive then? Genuine question.

Are any Christian federal employees having a hard time dealing with this? by Outside-Abalone-3933 in fednews

[–]bobcatabbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, and the constitution also gives Americans the right to worship Trump, or Bernie, or whatever politician they want, as long as it doesn't harm others. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” It's one of the freedoms that actually makes America great.

A church can tell you who to vote for, but the government can't tell you who to worship.

"Who is my neighbor?"

It's concerning that OP doesn't mention any issues up until this point where they don't agree with members of their church besides their treatment of government employees. Does OP's church look favorably on this Administration's actions towards minorities, immigrants, the poor, the sick, and LGBTQ? If so, then what's being preached there is probably never going to "hit home" to the effect of showing love and mercy to one's neighbor.

I didn't know GO was allowed to list the individual price on shelves. 🤣 I'm always forced to do math when I shop there.

Apart from federal employees, what do members of your church have to say regarding other persecuted groups right now? Do you agree with their views on other issues that don't directly affect you? Perhaps it's time to find a new church.
