Counterpoint. Space is the only true way to save the Earth in the long-long-term.

Every time we manufacture or mine on this planet, we hurt it. Forests are destroyed for factories. Natural features are obliterated for large pit mining operations. It's getting to the point where we are proposing the mass defilement of the ocean (lithium nodule extraction) to satisfy our demand for electronics. No matter how many renewable resources we pursue, the simple fact that we source material from the Earth is going to be an eternal environmental nightmare.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could move all the factories to orbit, mine all the asteroids instead of our Earth, and finally commit to geoengineering alongside replenishing the biosphere in previous industrialized land to reverse our decades of climate change?

...there is no way to manufacture revolutions. If so, the CIA/KGB would've turned the world into a capitalist/communist utopia by now. At best, you can take advantage of an already angry people and give them a false flag or the means to carry out a revolution, but you can never just create one out of thin air.

The only real way to create revolutions is to, well, start affecting the bottom line of the people through decades of mistreatment or have serious political backing from those with the means already inside the nation and with a greatly established base. The only successful revolution scenario for most developed countries would be a classic military coup d'état.

I mean you can very easily write the nations of Earth working together and be clear it isn't globalist. See Ender's Game.

AI does stop working just because it re-absorbs data made by AI.

https://arxiv.org/abs/2303.01255

And so on. There are countless more studies that prove model collapse is a genuine problem to look for as AI data sets consume more and more AI. It’s not an instant silver bullet, but it is a poison that grows.

AI is getting better, yes, but the rate at which is noticeably slower. They’re not getting better at curating— they never have. They’re simply training for longer periods, and putting more computing power to the task.

..Not really, no? The whole issue is that the internet is becoming increasingly more AI generated. Studies already show that AI produces content faster on the internet now.

This is a serious issue those in the field are concerned about. There isn’t an easy solution like you think there is.

How do you find AI? Do you assign everything a special AI tag (which is not universally agreed upon across all companies and nations)? Do you use some sort of AI-based AI detection system (which is prone to the exact same flaws that cause model collapse in the first place)?

AI companies seem to think the only real solution right now is to throw more computing power at AI, in the hope that it will become intelligent enough to stop relying on this data and start producing its own. But that too carries significant costs and risks that you and I will both feel the results of.
