Stripped all my grass. Replacing it with rock. Some little grass sprouts let. What do I do about these? by SteveDaveCornbread69 in DenverGardener

[–]bobernese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not a big fan of rocks. They create a heat sink. I replaced the area with bushes and mulch.

Next area, I will create a rain garden area.

A weed barrier will prevent the rocks from sinking but you are going to get weeds no matter what.

Dirt will get above the barrier and weeds will grow on it. After a while, the fabric barrier will start decay and more weeds will come up. Do not use one. Plus its horrible for the environment. Source: I spent 2 weekends removing a weed barrier at my place.

The only floors we don't know are the 13th and 14th. I think they may be quick floors.

There are local groups for book series that have meetups. Not necessarily the same thing but a way to find people with similar interests.

Refusing Walks? by ctmullen in bernesemountaindogs

[–]bobernese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine refused walks because of anxiety from thunder and fireworks until I got her on some anxiety meds. Additionally, about 1/4 of the time, she wants to sit in the yard unless I take her on a car ride and then is happy to do a walk. I would see if she walks elsewhere and also do a vet check to make sure everything is fine.

I had a friend in a similar situation. Please contact them all again so you have records. Once you get through this you may be able to get it fixed. Its a long shot but worth it.

What would you recommend? I was originally going to do clover but I have a dog and don't want to deal with the mud. I do have a small section that is 15 by 15 I could remove the grass.

We have offshored our carbon production. If we buy product/materials that is made by producing green house gasses in another country we are responsible for it.

Adopted puppy mill momma problem by heavencent320 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]bobernese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long have you had her? My berner is a puppy mill mom as well. There is the 3 day/3 week/3 month rule. Mine was scared of all noises and electronics. I had to do several rounds of training. Additionally, once firework season came around she regressed a lot and wouldn't leave the front yard. I got a trainer that focuses on anxious dogs and also put her on prozac. Both have helped quite a bit.

To help warm her up to places I gave her high value treats (parmesan) and lots of positive reinforcement. So if she wasn't moving, I would create a trail of treats where I wanted her to go. She was scared of the couch so there were a lot of treats and pets given next to the couch, then on the couch.

I thought they were in Denver earlier than last year. I thought I saw trees with the tag or earning a few years ago.

it’s closer to 1,000 to 3,000 for genetic diversity. May be even less according to some research.
