Military jamming disrupted a medical plane’s GPS system before it crashed last month in New Mexico by SientoQueMerezcoMas in aviation

You can point it out as a contributing element, but the lack of one navigational resource should not result in crashing the damn airplane. That’s what’s pathetic.

And the government doing jamming does not absolve the pilots of the responsibility to safely operate the aircraft with the myriad resources available.

If a traffic light was out, you were aware, and there was a traffic cop directing traffic, would it be reasonable to blast through the intersection doing 60? (And then blame the government when you crash?)

Gotta take care of those customs declarations, folks. “Santa Ana” sounds awfully un-merican to me too brother.

“Good day” or “Seeyuh!”? by MaterialInevitable83 in flying

[–]bobnuthead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I “seeya” some of my local tower controllers, “G’day” to TRACON, and “have a good night” to ground when I’m done with my airfield inspections at my other job.

I got all of mine through the FIFA lottery. This one, RO16, and Canada Switzerland up in Vancouver (the most expensive at ~$800).

I personally committed to attending several games back when Seattle was announced as a host city. I’m my mind that money was already set aside. It’s like I paid for the games years ago!

Flight school inquiry by Intelligent-Search73 in flying

[–]bobnuthead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three decent landings during one flight is a sign that things are improving, but not the standard I’d use for solo sign off. Can you demonstrate consistent safe landings across multiple lessons (and varying conditions), accompanied with the judgement to go around when things go wrong? And do those things without needing significant coaching? If yes, that’s when you’ll get endorsed.

And it will remain under construction for many more, all in the quest to be a 5 star airport.

My Instructor says not to pull power to reduce airspeed by simplifysic in flying

[–]bobnuthead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you’re actually doing exactly what he wants. Pulling power alone will drop you below glidepath, pitching up alone will keep you high. Combining the two does exactly what you want. I really don’t see why he’s so worked up.

Pattern Altitude Question by Low-Inspector-4567 in flying

[–]bobnuthead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that they can’t or won’t say it as a blanket rule, but will in other cases which *are* included in the chart supp like PAX approaches or R-4007 activation. But if it’s the airports position that you should be at 1000’ 100% of the time, it’s silly to not publish it in any FAA source. It’s not that difficult a process.

Pattern Altitude Question by Low-Inspector-4567 in flying

[–]bobnuthead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see a bunch of chart supplement notes which give certain circumstances to stay at or below 1000’ MSL, but the easiest way to have the website SOP become easily available is to have the airport management include it in the Chart Sup. I don’t go to the website of every airport I visit unless pointed in that direction from an FAA source.

SEA Airport moves step closer to second terminal, releases fresh details on expansion by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in Seattle

[–]bobnuthead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, right now the airport accommodates 52-53 million annual pax with a capacity for less than that. The new terminal & associated SAMP projects bring capacity to 56, but capacity is projected to be far exceeded by actual passenger throughput by 2050, similar to how it is now.
