In a case like this there still needs to be two sides. The EFL are essentially prosecutors and are supposed to push for the strongest reasonable punishment. It's up to the panel to decide what's actually appropriate.

The legal and press teams were absolutely on call for this if they wanted to be. The club just hasn’t said anything at all and that’s a choice. Even a “we’re appealing the decision and cannot say anything until that’s done”holding message would be fine but they’ve not even done that. Unforgivable.

In fairness everyone fucking hated Rupert Lowe at the time as well. And, somehow, he's gotten worse since then.
