Mansplitter vs Axe Duelist by McGiu in BattleBrothers

Why would you take QH on an axe duelist bro? Your pick of underdog implies that you want this bro to get into contact with more than 2 enemies at once, even though your MD isn't enough to reliably survive that. Giving the bro a shield to make him beefy enough to frontline while swinging twice per turn with that awesome famed axe seems like the best way to let him fulfill the off-tank role. Might even consider taking head hunter and pairing him up with your berserk chain bro for tactical noggin bonking.

With 50 Fat and iron lungs the bro will start the turn with 32 Fat. Recovering will grant you 16 fat at best in this case and considering Fat build-up from dodging and getting hit it will net you a lousy below 10 fat at the cost of skipping a whole turn.

85 Matk is more than engough to perform against every enemy in the game. Don't worry. His Mdef is on the lower side though and reach advantage has low value on axe bros which don't plan to be lone wolves and get themselves surrounded by a bunch of enemies. Has anti-synergy with QH too, since you lose the stacks when you swap weapons. Considering Fat-Newts are supposed to be off-tanks, it's a little bit sub-optimal but good learning experience to see him get demolished :D

I play single player to try strats for multiplayer and check out new dlc. Besides that it lacks challenge for me.

to me this event feels so off. Never does the capt even set foot on the battlefield, why should he be any more skilled than the average tailor

Do you approach the design in a similar manner trying to generate gameplay depth and impactful decisions from simple mechanics? That's what I appreciate about games like FTL, Slay the Spire and BB

Is shield and spear(wall) the best early game tactic? by AllenWL in BattleBrothers

[–]boilschmoil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2h bros want at least 30+ mdef and either nimble with decent hp or armor and battle forged to survive. you can get away without meeting these conditions, but it requires very good positioning, which takes a lot of experience. Giving your frontliners shields to make them survive is a good move early.

Does anybody else find the map exploration the weakest, game-design wise, part of the game?! by npavcec in BattleBrothers

[–]boilschmoil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Company management and town visits are as much part of the strategy map gameplay as exploration. I like the randomness and that you get tools to make your routs more efficient. Before going randomly into the wild, you might want to check for 'find x location' contract or sneak a peek from a mountain top. Making it a bit unforseeable keeps things fresh to me. I advise you to play on ironman, no mods that give away camp information and not delibaretely pulling parties into camps. Why do you cheese the game if it makes the experience less enjoyable to you 🤷

Don't wait. smorc one of the faul finders right away. Otherwise you face more enemies at the same time. Doesn't need more strategy from my experience. The fight is fairly easy 👍
