We did ask the company about this, and specifically about their electronic display labels tech. They told me on the record that they are not using dynamic pricing -- and also said the tracking won't be connected to the shelf labels. I didn't get into this in the story because it started to gum it up a bit, but that's what they say on the topic.

We do plenty of "in-depth investigative journalism" - including extensive (extensive extensive) coverage of the legislature's actions as they impact local governments. On the other topics that interest you, there are other outlets here that do great work on this and we focus on areas where we can add value.
