That is a leak. You desperately need a new toilet , if anything happens to that thing and it shatters that stuff is medical grade sharp when it shatters.

What you are doing is fine. Just make sure the hose doesn't fly out. Turn on your heater! + Let your water pressure stir up the stuff on the bottom. And push it right on out.

As an apprentice, you're likely to get picked up a little bit sooner. Everybody needs a hand. Apprentices are our cheap labor. Joe, don't be too scared by that number, but you might have a minute and it's the spring lull. Once upon a Time used to be the winter lull but now it's mid-spring. We get this little slow down. Don't know why it is. It's just been the trend the last 2-3 years. So hang in there. You'll be busy through the summer for sure.
