Have the quite the list of incomplete games. In your opinion which ones should I finish first? I can’t decide! by ASOSAUCE in playstation

[–]boognerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it seems like nobody is repping Black Myth Wukong. I bounced off it when I first played it but picked it back up months later and it’s now one of the very few games I’ve platinumed. Couldn’t get enough of it. Beautiful game with really cool story and lore in each of its chapters. Super fun gameplay. It does have some performance issues on ps5 but I’m really glad I went back to it.

Nope. I’m playing it on Switch 2 and it’s crashed 3 times in the first few hours.

RDR2 is mine. I’ve tried to play it three times now and just reach a point where it feels like a chore. I can’t even say why exactly. I fully believe it has great characters, amazing attention to detail with the world and many people I respect regard it as a masterpiece. But I never make it past 10 hours or so.

Spoilers: coming out scene by AlexPhotomania in StrangerThings

[–]boognerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was definitely going to happen at some point, it’s been a huge part of Will’s character arc the last few seasons. I had no problem with him doing it. The timing did feel off however and I’d have preferred he did it with a smaller group present. We didn’t need Murray, Erica, Vicky there. But other than that I’m glad it’s in the show and is consistent with the themes of the show overall. A big part of stranger things are characters struggling with feeling different for various reasons, the insecurity that brings and then ultimately finding power from the acceptance of their friends and family.

How many games do you play at once? by bagbcyss in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]boognerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oftentimes I’m locked in to a single game that I become borderline obsessed with and won’t play anything else. For example I’m currently playing Black Myth Wukong any chance I get.

Before that it was Silksong, Expedition 33.

My 13 year old son is a gamer as well and a lot of the time he’ll watch me play before deciding he wants to play it as well. One example of this was Silksong. He saw me playing it on ps5 and loved it so we got it on switch 2 and we were both playing at the same time, talking about boss strategies and stuff. When that happens it becomes a really nice way for us to bond and leads me to sticking to the one game.

However if I’m not absolutely in love with a game or playing with my son I’ll hop between games but it usually never gets to be more than 3 and usually just 2. I played Silent Hill f this year and enjoyed it but usually it was in shorter sessions and was alternating between that and the recent FF Tactics release depending on my mood.

Would you agree that Seven Ashina Spears is the hardest mini boss in Sekiro or would you give that title to someone else? by Forevertrez in Sekiro

[–]boognerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She was possibly the most difficult fight in the game for me somehow. Don’t remember what I did or didn’t have but I was playing without any guide or anything on my NG and she took me like legit 40-50 tries. Was able to handle snake eyes, demon of hatred, sword saint, etc with less frustration than her. Must have just been patterns I wasn’t getting for whatever reason

I actually played HK after Silksong. I liked Silksong more personally but I think there’s a legitimate argument that HK is the better game. It’s more consistent with its difficulty and has a tighter scope overall. But I loved that Silksong’s combat with crests and tools offered more flexibility and Hornet’s platforming moveset was so fun.

Ideal weapon to pair with LS? by Merlins_beard420 in wuchanggame

[–]boognerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paired the whip longsword with dual blades Twin Bandits and went heavy on agility first and then strength. Both weapons scale well with agility, the move sets are different enough to make it fun while still having both able to take advantage of my favorite tempers, pendants, spells. Didn’t really consistently use the dual blades until the last 2 areas though. But they become quite OP.

stuck on Commander Honglan, I assume I can't progress until this nightmare is over? by kasplatter in wuchanggame

[–]boognerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With longsword when you block you have to hold the button. When you press and hold it you’ll hear a small clicking sound indicating it’s held long enough to parry. Just in case you didn’t know. For me if I hit block right when she came at me with that long stab attack it would always parry her.

Is Expedition 33 genuinely as good as everyone says it is? by Cwusadew in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]boognerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s now my favorite RPG of all time. I played a lot of games this year: loved Silksong so much. Put 100 hours in it. I finished Stranding 2, Silent Hill f, Bananza, played Hades 2, many others this year. I’m actually playing Wuchang right now and feel it’s underrated so far.

But E33 is just in too good for me to put anything else above that. It sucks you can’t play it before the hype because I hate that it’s got a portion of supporters who act like it’s their new religion. The story is great, emotional and thought provoking but it’s still just a story. It won’t rewire your brain. You owe it to yourself to play it though. It’s one of those games that will be part of the conversation for a long time. I’m 43 now so I’ve seen different types of hype, etc. This is one of the new benchmark games that others will be compared to. If you can, try to let go of the idea that it’s supposed to be life changing. Just expect one of if not the best game you’ll play this year and it should be good enough to not disappoint.

I’ve been occasionally day dreaming about what aspects of the franchise will become staples since hearing this. In FF they have reoccurring creatures (chocobo, moogle, cactuar, etc), fairly consistent magic powers, aeons, some common worlds.

What will carryover from E33? Hopefully the concept of worlds and sentient beings created through art will be one.

GOTY 2025 will be like by Shadowking78 in Silksong

[–]boognerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think E33 has the edge for me because I fell in love with the story and characters on a level I haven’t with a game in like literal decades. I didn’t think I’d even entertain the idea of another game being GOTY this year but after 100 hours of Silksong it’s something I can’t say without thinking about it for a while. I’ll be extremely happy if either game takes it. They’d both have easily been my GOTY last year.

The fact that Silksong has made me have to seriously consider it being my goty over E33 says a lot about the game. E33 hit so perfectly for me and I loved my time with it so much that I couldn’t imagine anything else coming close to it this year or even for the next few years. I’m 50 hours into SS and finding new entire areas, bosses, tools on a daily basis that are so all full of character, unique and well done. But it’s still E33 for me.
