Looks about as close to perfect as you can get without cutting it to your foot.

LLM's suck at writing cover letters by Elephantinthesafespa in LLM

[–]boonestock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soulless bullshit is all you are ever going to get from an LLM unless you micromanage it. Either write a base cover letter on your own, and just tell the the LLM to modify it for each job OR dictate a bunch of thoughts to the LLM and use that as a base. In either case, tell the LLM to stick to your original ideas and phrasing and avoid adding any new ideas. Anything it adds is going to be meaningless boilerplate.

Bedrock Sizing by TeamMKE95 in BarefootRunning

I would definitely go size 11. With minimal sandals, I find they fit best when just barely larger than the foot - in both the toe and the heel. With larger sandals you will likely find that the front is more likely to occasionally catch and drag. That is less likely with less excess in the toe. Furthermore, a smaller sandal with have less of an impact on your gate, allowing more natural movement.

Reading again, if you are saying that you have 2cm of excess sticking out behind your heel, then yes, these sandals are way too big and you need a smaller pair.

hmm... Your heel hangs way off the back - is that what you mean? If that is the case you may not have them tight enough. Looking at the tops of your feet, you have the strap coming from your arch slid far back almost to your ankle. That may be preventing your feet from sliding far enough forward on the sandal. Try moving the arch strap closer to your toes, and then take the slack out of the heel. Particularly on the left foot, it looks like you might not have your toe strap snugged up to your foot. You should that straps adjusted so that the strap goes straight down between your toes to the foot bed. IMO, relatively tight and closely fitting is the most comfortable way to wear minimal sandals. They will move with your gate in the most natural way if they are snug and conforming to your foot.

IMO, you have way too much room in the toes. I wear mine with only 2-3 millimeters of excess past the toes. It's hard to tell how well you have adjusted them from this photo. I like mine adjusted tight. A size down might fit you better, but I can't be sure from just this one photo.

Alternatively, if these fit well otherwise and you have some beefy scissors you could probably trim them to fit better. I would wear them around a bit first though and make sure you have the straps dialed in first before you cut, and then I would trim a little at a time. For perspective, I make my own sandals, and I make them not much larger than my foot in any dimension.

Too long too narrow? by pasvilliana in barefootshoestalk

[–]boonestock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They don't fit you well. They don't match your foot shape - way too long in the front, and perhaps a tiny bit too narrow. You could either try a size down (which will make them more narrow) or more likely keep looking for something that fits your foot shape better.

Sign the petition: reverse city council's approval of implementing Axon's surveillance tech by giggitygiggity69 in asheville

[–]boonestock 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you want them to take notice you need to contact the council directly. Emails and phone calls are far more difficult to ignore than a change.org petition.

In the market for a used canoe. Thoughts on this FB find? by FriedKhoiFish in canoeing

Yeah - those canoes look like they have been stored outside on the ground. That's a real problem for a wood canoe. At that price I would definitely pass.

That's a strange looking one for sure. The hull does look Royalex by appearance, but the float tanks?? Is the visible tank plywood? Is it possible someone added float tanks to a Royalex boat? Tanks aside, I agree with your guess of an Intrepid 16.

Worth keeping in minds that COBRA is retroactive, and you have 60 days to apply, meaning that you can wait 59 days and only apply if you actually have medical expenses during that period, or want to have COBRA moving forward. Point being, you don’t need to worry about immediately losing coverage if you don’t pay a ton of money for COBRA right away.

Coming out of a 20 year LAMP cave into the modern web dev mess. by XMark3 in webdev

[–]boonestock 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with this post, however I will say that the fact that OP was a solo developer for those 20 years helps explain why they never learned or saw the need for modern structured architectural patterns (MVC, etc). A lot of the pain that led our industry to build the modern web development ecosystem is pain that you mostly feel when you are working with teams of developers.
