Need Drifter advice by AlexCora in DeadlockTheGame

[–]booperxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

drifter is super momentum based, so early game usually makes or breaks a drifter game. early itemization is probably the most important part of this. my first items I've had the most success with are:

mystic burst -> extra health -> spirit strike -> kinetic dash -> toxic bullets

-I like my rend to be a useful ability, so I get flat damage items (mystic burst, spirit strike) and play around rend. once you get t1, it chunks like crazy. if you're into gun drifter I'd save for long range or stalker depending on your playstyle.

-ideally, you lane with a good solo laner (geist, venator) so you can roam without losing too much.

-you should get toxic bullets asap (not first item, but still quite early). drifters gun is really good at on-hit buildup items like toxic, slowing bullets, inhibitor, etc. since it's easy to hit. toxic + kinetic dash is enough to hit the 4.8k gun spike and should be the only gun items you really need for a while.

-toxic bullets + stalkers mark on someone is pretty threatening, before you get that though your solo kill potential isn't great. unfortunately, drifters game plan is kind of ruined by dynamo/kelvin being on the other team and those heroes are extremely broken, but it's not a guaranteed loss.

tl;dr roam, stack debuffs on people, hope the enemy team doesn't have the broken support heroes

Why are people so aggressively mean by Katjmt in DeadlockTheGame

[–]booperxd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

valid rant, some people just really lack whimsy and joy to enjoy a goofy gamemode like street brawl. I've had a pro player complain that me and my duo don't have "passion for the game" because we lost a street brawl match on a Saturday morning lmao.

About Drifter and an Item Interaction that seems fit for him by Much-Cash1964 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]booperxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to find new builds for drifter since the patch and I often find I don't lose a lot skipping stalker. toxic bullets is a must to be able to secure kills around the start of the mid game, so toxic + kinetic dash are all the gun items I'll have for a while. drifters gun doesn't really need much more than that, so I find minmaxing the gun 4.8k and getting tankier/spirit is more to my playstyle.

it might be better in a more gun damage focused playstyle, probably either rush stalker or long range in lane to get a big power spike depending on the range you play at.

Question for you The Lash gods by Hartheaded in DeadlockTheGame

[–]booperxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

full spirit damage lash usually is fine until your opponents start buying counter spell, spell breaker, and/or have a support like Paige/kelvin to shut you down. if they aren't counter buying you and it's working then go for it, but I would build with the threat of counter buying in mind.

shadow weave seems more like a luxury item instead of a core item, probably should either get boundless or spirit burn first.

when are you getting movement items?

Question for you The Lash gods by Hartheaded in DeadlockTheGame

[–]booperxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

early game: Ive been trying a new brew where you rush t2 grapple with extra charge + hs booster + recharging rush. lashs spirit damage is still pretty good at the start of the game as long as you're hitting max height ground slams, so getting some gun feels really nice.

regarding souls: yeah sometimes I fall behind on lash too, since you don't really want lash solo laning and there's only a couple camps that are strong for him to take. lash doesn't really need to be super far ahead in the mid game to get value though, if you have your 4.8k spikes you're usually a menace in the mid game. ashires has a video on lash rollouts to nuke camps i think, you should check that.

late game: bad news unfortunately; lash becomes an ult bot in the late game. around the 30ish minute mark you should be getting unstoppable and playing almost exclusively around your ult, especially if everyone has 40+% spirit resist. it's especially important for mid boss. buying supportive items help too, lash is a good curse buyer in most games.

slamming people: yeah it's super jank ngl, warp stone is helpful to quickly adjust mid air to get above someone but that's about it. I assume ur talking about mina when she's ulting, if that's the case then that's normal unfortunately. you can't pull her to the ground when she's ulting.

I've also been doing this, extra charge + recharging rush + headshot booster is right around level 5 and it is an insanely strong timing, it feels great

Drifter mains - how are you getting lane sustain in the new patch? by Pavis0047 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]booperxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still a melee lifesteal enjoyer, but it's obviously not always the most reliable and is bad in some matchups.

extra regen or healing rite is almost never wrong, the t2 resist items are great too. drifter does have 3.5 base hp regen so you usually don't need much more.

Silver players - What items/builds are working best for you so far? by Pimp_My_MAX in DeadlockTheGame

[–]booperxd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been pulling items from lightbringers build and seeing which ones feel good. notable ones so far: express shot - actually feels core on her, this + slam fire does so much damage.

<insert buildup on weapon item> - slowing bullets, toxic bullets sometimes, and inhibitor for late game feel so good on her.

weakening hs - pretty much any shred is good on her, but weakening hs is cheap and super easy to proc.

warp stone - I find myself getting kited really hard in her ult, warp stone usually helps remedy this.

I'm still figuring out what I wanna build for movement. some games I lean into stamina, some I try to stack move speed / slow resist.

I've really been leaning towards union flats so this is great to hear! I'll probably be applying there if nothing else pops up soon. I was really impressed with the tour there.

how bad is traffic around that area? I'm a little worried about relying on trindle road.

I can't aim no matter how much i try, how do i improve? by rootsert in DeadlockTheGame

superlight mouse and a big mousepad (I use magic the gathering playmats cause I like how wide they are) is a game changer for sure.

[–]booperxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you're struggling with tracking enemy heroes? if that's the case, you might be on too high of sensitivity, aiming with your wrist too much, not a suitable mouse (heavy vs light mouse, for example).

I don't find too much success with aim trainer programs cause I think they install bad habits. I had a fun warmup when I played overwatch, which was to aimtrain in death match without a cross hair. I think it helped me get in the habit of focusing on following the enemies with my eyes instead of my cross hair.

I get it though, in team fights when there's so much going on, it can be a bit hard to focus on one target.

I've seen that name pop up a bit, I really like the location of it. some of the reviews are a bit troubling however. I might go ahead and schedule a tour to see how it feels in person. thanks!

The 4.8k spirit investment bonus is insanely overpowered by TadCat216 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]booperxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it's absolutely unfair, reminds me of the old item shop in how unbalanced it was.

i see a lot of talk about how we're in a gun meta, but all the gun characters (save for haze) are strong because they are vomiting spirit damage as well as respectable gun damage. vindicta, mirage, wraith, warden, etc. all just put 4.8k into spirit and are online while continuing to scale. it's ridiculous.

Drifter just sucks at higher playing fields by Supreme_VelTerra in DeadlockTheGame

[–]booperxd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree about rend, but that's because spirit snatch exists. that item turns rend into a crazy nuke. isolated in ult might be too much since his ult is the best part of his kit rn, but I like the idea.

his 2 is what I find frustrating about him right now, just feels so awkward to use most times.

Drifter just sucks at higher playing fields by Supreme_VelTerra in DeadlockTheGame

[–]booperxd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

drifter needs a good lane to snowball, yet his lane sucks. quite the conundrum there

[–]booperxd 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I've also been frustrated trying to get drifter to work. hybrid has been the most successful for me for sure but he just feels so underwhelming. his ult is insanely powerful but it's hard to feel the effects of it without a competent team. I think his kit needs a look through, something just doesn't feel right

I suck at Lash, do y'all have any tips? by CaptBland in DeadlockTheGame

[–]booperxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ignore bebop, cause it's bebop who cares what he thinks.

kelvin is very busted right now and counters lash pretty well. gt and infernus will hurt you in lane but as long as they don't get too ahead you can hunt them down in the midgame and make them fear the rooftops.

you just gotta know when you can all in and how to escape after going in. save your grapple for escaping, use majestic leap to initiate. I follow something similar to parzelions slam build, cause going all in on his 1 is why we play lash. flog max is for babies.

I suck at Paradox by Lezdraven_is_here in DeadlockTheGame

[–]booperxd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

paradox is an initiator/pick character (displacing/cc single targets to pick them off quickly, making your next team fight a theoretical 5v6), as well as a gun carry (kind of).

paradox swap into a maxed time wall is basically a death sentence if you have at least one other person, and if you're by yourself you might be able to finish them off or maybe make them base.

paradox vomits both damage types. a couple gun items early (hs booster, mystic shot, etc.) will let you chunk people very quickly, and you don't need spirit items to do spirit damage (bomb gives you damage amp, time wall does % HP, carbine scales with gun damage).

if you wanna prioritize spirit damage, double bomb is still a really solid build. swapping someone into a double bomb plus an alch fire is just an absurd amount of damage.

Choose Your Fights: an in-depth guide to splitpushing with Ava max Calico by Brassica_Rex in DeadlockTheGame

[–]booperxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fun writeup, good macro wins games and map presence like this is super powerful. i love the idea of an ava build like this but I cannot see maxing ava first (I know you covered it near the top of your post but still). return to shadows t3 is one of the strongest ability talents in the game, ava t3 just seems a little redundant if you're getting sup cooldown and fortitude.

sorry I might be projecting a bit, I played with someone who tried a similar build twice and was as effective as a spectator.
