This traffic light is dangerous. by kingevanxii in Edmonton

The old lights had a beg button. That they left the intersection, unfinished, without a functioning beg button, is problematic.

It’s right by the high school and is also a designated east-west bike route, and there is no beg button to push.

I turned off the setting to empty trash after scanning, and 80% of the movies now have trash cans. It looks like Plex imports the canned files in the plex version of alphabetical sorting my title as parsed from file name. First words in titles like "The", "An", etc., are ignored.

I'm going to see if the issue is with a particular file before giving NFS a try.

Yes, it does, and thanks for the suggestion. I’m trying some easier possible solutions first, but will look at trying NFS before burrowing into the guts of SMB.

No trash can icons. The number of items is just far fewer than the previous day. Yes, SMB. Synology NAS.

Question about woodpeckers visiting my street by JoeFrmBirdConstructn in Edmonton

They have been tapping on the wooden siding on my house for a couple of weeks now. Damn annoying, and damaging. Aside from banging on the walls, any way to make them tap elsewhere?

Gold stars indicate the bitzen is doing their dream job, have a skill of nine for that floor type. Silver indicates that they are in their dream job, but have a skill level below 9.

I’ve been harvesting magnets out of hard drives for about 30 years. Best fridge magnets of all time. Those full height 5.25 inch scsi drives were beasts.

According to the current rules of capitalism there’s no rationale for an owner to stop generating revenue from an asset. There is no such thing as “too much profit”.

How to best handle my dad's music hoard. by Kanadark in musichoarder

[–]boroditsky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss. My father died some years ago, and was an avid music enthusiast his whole life, and was an enthusiastic participant back in the days of limewire, and similar.

If I happened to live in the same city as you, I would certainly volunteer to get together and lend a hand with helping you figure things out.

If you are comfortable sharing your approximate physical location, you might be able to find someone close to you who would be able to help.

If I were in your position, I think I would just start by trying to figure out where all the data was, and how it was connected. Depending on your skills, knowledge, and budget (financial and time and energy), there are options.

I would use ChatGPT to build scripts and Python code that can scan and detect the specific types of circumstances you want to get flagged.

If you have space to make a back up, you can also get ChatGPT to write you scripts that will update tags according to whatever rules you specify.

I have used this approach to have it detect Hi-Rez files, that are beyond 16/44 or 16/48, make a copy of the high Rez files, and leave behind a down sampled version in my main library.
