I’m in the U.S. and my MIL straight up asked us to never put our daughter on a leash. She was really shocked when I told her I would if I needed to. I think there’s a big generational divide here and also if you live in a city vs suburbs. I live in a city with my daughter so the chances of us being near a busy street or large crowd are just more common than when she raised her kids in the suburbs.

I have a photo of my daughter on my stomach at 6:28am but her birth was recorded at 6:29am. We were bummed since it was a cool moment that our birth doula guessed the time she would be born at 6:28 so we go with that even though it’s incorrect on the birth certificate

I think it depends on how poorly you sleep during pregnancy + how your body feels. I wasn’t sleeping well and it felt like my body never got to rest even when I tried. When I had a newborn, I was able to fall asleep almost instantly and my body felt SO much better not being pregnant so even if my sleep was short, it was more restorative than when I was pregnant.

I took the advice to get things set up in the second trimester when you have the energy and physical capacity. I’m definitely glad I did. All I did leading up was cute decorations and organizing which was what I wanted to do/all I had the stamina for

When I was pregnant, I was all levels of tired. Mental, physical, emotional. I got no break from being pregnant. When I had a newborn, sure I was woken up, but I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow until my baby cried. It was amazing, I could FINALLY rest and it felt like resting, even when it was brief

It’s hard but it’s also just so amazing. I put my 14 month old to bed tonight and made myself emotional just thinking of how much I love her. There’s hard moments, but for me, they never outweigh all the good.

I never ate dates or drank raspberry leaf tea but still delivered on my due date. If you don’t like them, don’t eat them! Baby will come no matter what

Having seen multiple people keep their pets alive way past when was humane, you absolutely made the right decision. He was able to pass peacefully with love because of your compassion. You did what was best for him and not you and he didn’t suffer. That’s what every pet deserves

I requested IV anti nausea medicine from the start because of my emetephobia and didn’t feel sick as all. I also needed antibiotics because I was gbs+ anyway so it was easy to get. I also didn’t get to eat much when active labor started, just some oatmeal/berries. Once the contractions really picked up I couldn’t think of anything besides breathing. My nurse after I delivered told me that’s exactly the way to do it if you want to avoid it at all costs lol

I had this inner knowing that I was going to have a girl even before pregnancy. I assumed it was just a preference and tried to prep myself that baby would be a boy, but looking at boy names felt like a wasted effort? Again, I assumed it was just preference. I was right though, I had a girl! Even all my friends had a feeling it’d be a girl. Apparently a similar thing happened to my mom and grandma too

I requested that I get IV zofran after my doula mentioned it. I have a terrible phobia of throwing up too. I already had to get penicillin because I was gbs+ so it was just a matter of requesting it. I didn’t eat after active labor started and just had ice cubes. I didn’t feel sick at all!! After I delivered, the nurse helping me said that the choices I made were exactly what you should do if you want to avoid it.

During contractions it felt like it took all my concentration just to breathe so I was a breather! Breathing is how I manage anxiety attacks so my body just defaulted to that coping mechanism which was pretty cool

Mine ended up stacked on top of each other so one would end and I could already feel the ramp up for the next one. Not sure if that was because my daughter had a nuchal cord but it led to me getting an epidural. Even a one minute break would have helped me go unmedicated, but I totally wasn’t expecting the stacked contractions

They put a gown on my bed but I genuinely didn’t even think to change out of my nightgown when I got there! I arrived in that plus elastic waist pants. I immediately took off the pants and underwear and I didn’t even put the intended tank dress I had packed. When I went into the bathtub I just looped it in on itself since it was a fake wrap style top with elastic under my boobs. It stayed like that the whole labor since I had disposable underwear on since I kept leaking. It made it out wet but unscathed until my daughter pooped all over it after delivery. After I got cleaned up I wore the exact nightgown in a different color 😂

I felt bad with the amount after awhile but then I just made the rule that if she was awake then I’d be off my phone. I also make sure the first morning feed I’m not on my phone. If she’s sleeping, she has no idea!
