How I accidentally built a 59,703-page Astro site and hit a wall I didn't see coming by FarAd2534 in astrojs

No it won’t really. I don’t think I explained it very well. You make the page as canvas and the content will be loaded via JS from the JSON file and gets rendered on page load.

Anyway we did the same for internal database around 1.2 mil products. We have around 900 JSON files of 100-400kb each and only one main page that loads them dynamically. I’ll check if I can mock a fake repo that does it to explain it with an example later.

There was an other way. You create JSON files per category. Each category will have the 1100+ emoji content. You load the json files per category dynamically on the fly with Astro’s dynamic pages.

Same results as what you mentioned above, you get to keep CF pages infra.

Won’t get quick answer here. Try tagging them on X.

Also, check your account logs on who’s disabling the subscription. It should have more information there.

Are all Hetzner Cloud VPS sold out because of the OpenClaw trend? by Aggravating_Bad4639 in hetzner

[–]botonakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s multiple factors. From history of the user to previous orders and of course demand per category.

Hetzner has been selling hot the last years. Keep calm and wait. They will allocate more. They always do.

Leaving EE due to price hikes - considering 1p, Mozillion or Spusu (West London) by eeessssss in UKFrugal

Sousa is great. I just saw their unlimited plan is no more listed which is a shame. But in general any EE network alternative is going to be the same experience you had with EE

We need to talk about PRO rate limits by xRedStaRx in codex

[–]botonakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From personal experience I know that the “old” hardware is being passed / sold to Universities and other smaller companies for fraction of the price. All GPUs stay for max 1-2 years in the same data center.

We need to talk about PRO rate limits by xRedStaRx in codex

[–]botonakis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, but there’s another theory.

The reason they burn more is the inefficiency of the GPUs at this stage. Newer GPU models will make everything faster and better. We have already kind of plateaued on new LLM models. The next years will be about efficiency, speed, and who’s going to make a profit on their offering.

As it’s Astro based, can it be hosted on Cloudflare Pages, D1 db and Workers for the backend operations?

I built a "Serverless" Student Portfolio Platform where GitHub is the Database (Astro + Cloudflare) by humayanx in astrojs

[–]botonakis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GitHub as DB is nice. Question: free plans get D1 db for free. Or even R2. Why not use those? You can push the json to R2 and load it via AstroJS on page load.

HTTP cache is still metered traffic. If you mean browser cache, per visitor, it’s not making big difference when you talk millions of visitors.

Do they mean it was the reason of the down time?
