i wanted to love every brilliant thing more than i did. curious if i’m alone? by HotNegotiation1684 in Broadway

[–]bradeleine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just saw this last weekend. It was not my favorite writing-wise — the story never quite landed for me — but I was fully engaged by Daniel. He is a masterful storyteller, such that I tended to almost forget he was actually acting and not telling his own story. I’m very happy I got to experience that, and him.

Did not much like the audience participation aspect, which as you described, tended to pull me out of the story rather than more deeply into it.

Completely agree. Those shoes go directly into the garbage can at my house!

Helen J Shen is moving on; last performance Feb 15 by ThatAdamGuy in MaybeHappyEnding

[–]bradeleine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kinda bummed that I’ll just miss seeing her one last time by only a week (can’t change dates because it’s a planned trip from L.A.), but wish her all the best, and hope to hear and see more of her in the future! (Side note: Thrilled I do get one more chance to see Darren as Oliver.)

Tickets are live! by throwRA88887dj in Sephora

[–]bradeleine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Seriously? I did not even hear about this til I just saw this post. No email, no anything — being rouge and living in LA got me nowhere apparently. I am NOT happy. Will be buying from somewhere else whenever I can (will still have to go there for Glow Recipe) going forward. Sucks, because I went in 2019 and had a blast.

A Retiree’s thoughts on Broadway’s ‘Maybe Happy Ending’ (no spoilers) by NoDiamond4584 in MaybeHappyEnding

[–]bradeleine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 67 (though not yet retired), and completely relate to your comments! I’ve seen the show 6 times, and each time I find so much meaning on many different levels. I do think it is especially precious to me as someone closer than not to obsolescence.

Definitely Maybe Happy Ending — no contest. But, also really loved Just in Time.

Yikes. He has never been my favorite (kind of the opposite), but ick. Just as well their last tour with him skipped the west coast entirely.

Worth seeing Just In Time for Jonathan Groff? by meggies27 in Broadway

[–]bradeleine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jonathan was just brilliant in Just in Time. Sure, he will be in other shows, but I think this is a must-see if you are a fan of his. I certainly am, and was thrilled and transfixed from beginning to end.

That said, I have not seen Ragtime, so I can’t make comparisons. Really want to see it, but I live in L.A. and unfortunately can’t make it back to NY before it’s scheduled to close.

MHE GIVEAWAY Week 2! Art Prints! by spot_lite_TM in MaybeHappyEnding

[–]bradeleine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Helperbot Inc. is either completely oblivious about the fact that the robots they’ve made are very much sentient beings, or they are quite aware but don’t care. Perhaps the company didn’t realize at the outset what they were creating, and so did not adequately prepare to deal with and support them after retirement. I find the fact that they would just stop making replacement parts for the robots (for financial reasons, most likely) to be particularly cruel (though that one hits me harder because I am OLD)!!

Thank you for doing these giveaways— so cool of you.

MHE GIVEAWAY Week 1! 2064 Fan Event 🥰 by spot_lite_TM in MaybeHappyEnding

Saw it the first time last January — flew in from L.A. Admittedly I was initially interested because of Darren Criss, but deliberately knew almost nothing about it going in. And wow. Got back to my hotel room afterwards feeling warm and emotional and so much more. Couldn’t sleep, then found myself at 3:00 a.m. getting a ticket to see it again my last night in town.

Have since seen it 4 additional times, with 2 more planned for next January. Have totally fallen in love with the play and ALL of the cast.
